Re: 360 Owners: Has the 360 lived up to the hype?

The 360 became worth it's investment to me when GRAW, College Hoops, and Blazing Angels came out. I enjoy the arcade but my wife enjoys the arcade much more than I do and has gotten me several achievement awards by playing thru them, plus it's nice to be able to do one more thing together as she really enjoys the 360 where she didn't really care for the XBOX. The achievements idea really does work and is a great idea as it gives you something to shoot for. I found myself hunting for birds and metal pieces in Condemned instead of just going straight thru the single player like I would have last gen. This is truly a great system and it's now complete with the ability to get rosters for sports games. I was really worried when we didn't see a product to do this with around launch, but it's great now.

I am impressed so much by what I got. I kind of overpaid for it, but even that is worth it. Beautiful graphics, online is super great, demos are so great and convenient, lineup is getting better and better. Only negatives I have so far is the fact that they're more than the "current-gen" and the BC list is so lacking still. I mean, it's taking so long. I read an article about the BC list in the Game Informer. Hopefully they step up and improve that list. It's a great system though. Even when it's not on an HDTV. Big screen is a must if you don't have an HDTV.......

Well, I paid $580 off of ebay minus like $20 for a discount. I couldn't wait cause everyone was just talking about how great NBA 2k6 was on it. Great game. I couldn't say enough about it. Great purchase too cause I had Live and it was sweet. Only have two games and I'm checking out a few ebay bids. Great system. The arcade is wonderful too cause those little games just bring more flexibility to the whole experience. My girl even played badgammon with me. Was so romantic, especially when I beat her and gave her another chance. It's a fantastic system........

I bought the wireless adaptor and now too love the marketplace. I even made my wife happy when I downloaded that video of the month. I will enjoy it more in 3 months when school is done!

Definitely a worth every penny; I'm thoroughly satisfied. Have only owned it a couple weeks, and only have GRAW and NBA2k6 - both look great, even though I'm playing on a standard def tv (so will look amazing when I get that 50" Sony XBR). Looking to add (in no particular order) Fight Night, Oblivion, and possibly Blazing Angels. Didn't think any controller would ever beat the dual shock for functionality/feel, but I think this is the new standard - feels near perfect. Love the marketplace and XBL integration.

Hopefully the 3rd parties will give it the support it deserves; MS definitely needs to step to the plate with quality 1st party content also. Primary disappointment would be the backwards compatibility issue
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

              XBL gamertag: d0meBreaker22 (that's a zero)

congrats Steelers, city of Pittsburgh, and Steeler Nation - SIX TIME WORLD CHAMPS

                COD2, PGR3, GRAW, Oblivion, NBA2k6, Blazing Angels.

Yes, considering it's so early in it's life cycle, I can definitely say it's lived up to the hype for me.

I can't really recall a system ever having so many "must buy" titles by the time the console's life cycle reached 4 months. It started out a little slow, but now we're getting good to great games every single week.

For sure man. Out of all the games I've played there's only been two that I didn't care much for after a rental in Ridge Racer and Full Auto. I'm sure they're great games as well, just not my style. I'm also digging the new live stuff with private chat anywhere as well as cross game voice and text messaging. I really think that Microsoft listened to their fanbase and put quite a few thing that were suggested into the 360. They turned the XBL arcade from a black sheep to a golden child by getting rid of the disc, making demos available, and pricing the games (short of Bankshot) at a low enough price point where you can buy all the ones you like and still come out cheaper than buying a game at a store. The demos are a fantastic idea (I've bought games after playing demos of Blazing Angels, and Condemned, and rented many more after playing demos). I think the videos of gameplay they've put up have created excitement for certain games (not GRAW, folks were nuts for that from the moment we first saw screens) and I like the trailers.

The only things I'm disappointed at with the system are backwards compatibility and pricing for some of the games that really should be cheaper. I think Microsoft has completely dropped the ball on backwards compatibility and they need to do something soon and something big to save face. They promised an update in March on one of Major Nelson's blogcasts, so they've got 3 days left to do so. I feel that games like Far Cry and Burnout Revenge should have come out at the 39.99 price point since they've changed little since their debut on the XBOX.

I have not had this much fun gaming since my SNES/Genesis days.

                          I can't believe it's only been 4 mos.
