Probably medium, you can try setting everything at high except for shaders and shadows. Those are the two biggest options performance wise.

You might also want to try the new beta drivers nvidia released the other day if you haven't already, 169.01. Folks have been saying good things about them and I've noticed a slight performance increase myself. They were released for the crysis demo.

Game looks great on mostly high/medium settings.
I think I'm gonna test this out with vista.

Hell of a game, can't wait till the full release.

Playing the demo on DX10 medium settings and getting about 25 fps which is actually not too bad. I put it on very high settings just to see what it looked like and got around 8 fps but it was hands down the best graphics I have seen.

I just found something out when playing.

If you press ~ and then type in "kill" you'll commit suicide. Or should I say, instantly die. lol

I know that may not interest anyone, but I thought I might as well share it.

I give it about 2 years before it becomes really hard to tell the difference between real life and a video game. (Off Topic) But, have you ever thought about this? If we could make graphics identical to real life, would we still need actors for movies? We could create movies just by animation.

Beyond Crysis: Crytek Talks CryENGINE 2's Future

IGN: The CryENGINE is being shopped to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 developers. Are there many console games being built on the CryENGINE?

Harald Seeley: We provided a preview of our console work-in-progress to other developers at the Game Developers Conference recently. We have not yet provided our console engine or tools to any outside parties, as they are still under development. We have multiple studios and teams here at Crytek, and of course some of them are involved in developing games on those platforms.
IGN: What's the performance difference of the CryENGINE on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 compared to the PC? Are you able to tailor the engine to each platform?

Harald Seeley: Yes, we definitely tailor the engine specifically to each platform. More than just the difference in CPU and video hardware capabilities of PCs and consoles is at play here. So are the much smaller memory budgets we must work with, the lack of a hard disk on some models, and the acceptance requirements of the hardware vendors themselves. All have an effect on how we approach each version of the engine.

The surprising thing has been how well the consoles can perform visually, once this tailoring is in place. We expect the final outcome will result in games that look like they're running at high settings, or nearly high settings, on a PC. Actually, we found it as much or more challenging to address the memory limitations of the consoles when converting our current AI system, as we did while converting our rendering engine or physics system, which was not something you might have expected at the start.

OMG! I finally played this today and I am just amazed at the level of details in this game, and I was not on high settings either. This has to be one of the best FPS that I have played between level of details and story.

I just bought a 9800GT w/550W PSU the other day due to my other video card taking a crap. I'm running a Core 2 Duo 1.8 ghz + 3GB DDR2 RAM which I plan to upgrade to a 2.96 Ghz CPU soon.

New comp slightly more beastly than expected:

So I finally get to play it too. DLing the demo now.

This one actually lives up to the hype. This was 2007 and yet puts just about every 2010 game to shame. People are aware this game exsists and yet play Halo and CoD anyway?

                    re: Crysis and CryEngine 2 (PS3/PC/Xbox 360)

Flaw posted this in the Crysis 2 thread, but figured might as well add it here since its the Crysis thread. This is coming to both PS3 and 360 as many thought 360 only at first.

It seems as though another PlayStation 3 version of a critically acclaimed title has been outed by a ratings board. This time, the ESRB is responsible.

A recent listing for Crysis – a 2007 PC exclusive first person shooter, and precursor to Crysis 2 released in March, has been rated for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

With its sequel already alive and kicking on the aforementioned platforms, one can easily see a 4 year older title making its way to our home consoles.

We'll keep you posted with more info on Crysis for PS3 as it comes in.

Funny thing is I'm renting Crysis 2 right now on the 360.

                            Eurogamer

Crytek boss Cevat Yerli has confirmed that Crysis will launch as a PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade title.

"For many years people were asking, can you do Crysis 1 on consoles?" he told GameTrailers. "We have been secretly working on that for a while. It's a digital download only. It looks just awesome, I believe."

CRYTEK AND EA BRING CRYSIS TO XBOX LIVE AND PLAYSTATION NETWORK
Guildford, UK. – September 9, 2011 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) and award-winning developer, Crytek GmbH, announced today that the critically-acclaimed Crysis® franchise will debut a new experience on Xbox LIVE® and PlayStation® Network. In October 2011, shooter fans will be able to download a modified and enhanced version of the award-winning single-player campaign from the original Crysis, remastered for console players using Crytek’s state-of-the-art CryENGINE®3 with all new lighting, effects and other visual optimizations. For just £15.99 SRP or 1600 Microsoft Points, gamers will download the most robust and exciting Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network game to date.

In 2007 and again in 2011, critics around the world hailed Crysis and Crysis 2 as titles that ushered in the next-generation of gaming with jaw-dropping visuals, industry leading technology and groundbreaking sandbox gameplay, featuring the super-powerful Nanosuit. Today, the original, award-winning 2007 single-player campaign has been remastered for Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network with optimized Nanosuit controls, fine-tuned combat and full stereoscopic 3D support.

“We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”

In Crysis, gamers will travel to 2019 where a team of US scientists makes a frightening discovery on an island in the South China Sea. All contact with the team is lost when the North Korean Government quickly seals off the area. The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation. As tension rises between the two nations, a massive alien ship reveals itself in the middle of the island. Now with hope rapidly fading, the US and North Koreans must join forces to battle the alien menace, fighting **** battles through stunning, photorealistic tropical jungles and frozen landscapes.

If this is running off the cryengine 3 will it best the pc version running at max settings? I still have the pc version and can run it at max. For those on the fence about crysis if you didn't care for the sequel, the original is much better and a steal for $20. I wonder the size of the d/l considering that this game is a technological beast.
