    Re: Crysis and CryEngine 2 (PS3/PC/Xbox 360)

Can definitely see the engine starving for memory when it gets really open, and some occasional lighting and shadowing bugs, but it's still a good looking game. Impressive that 5-6 old hardware is able to run even a slightly gimped version. I found the game looks best with just 720p checked in the XMB. Interested to see how the game fares when I get to some of the more taxing parts.

I'm finding this tougher than Crysis 2. Cloaking doesn't seem quite as broken here and AI while they do some odd things at times, are more aware. I wish there was manual saves too, because the checkpoints can be aways apart.

Crysis is 7.49 for the next 4 hours on STEAM. You can get it bundled with Crysis:Warhead for 9.99 (Maximum Edition)
      I'm just getting Crysis.

Had to jump onto Steam while here at work to pick it up. Thanks for the heads up.

Assault, Onslaught, and Core are awesome missions. Game gets really good after the first couple. I enjoyed Crysis 2 quite a bit, but I'm liking this even more. Good port by Crytek, and it should be getting more buzz, but EA just announced it out of nowhere and released it during a busy time.

Couple screens from my play last night (Crysis 1 pc)
            Just downloaded a mod
For more realistic lighting and affects. Will play that later tonight after Yankee game.

Crysis (and Warhead) are great games. I remember playing through the first game over and over on all low settings on my lame laptop years ago. I still don't have a computer that can max it out but it is still awesome.

Crysis is such a great game. I just wish cloaking worked better as it seems to work like crap imo. You get spotted by the enemy a mile away even when cloaked. I can't believe how nice the game runs on the PS3.

Disagree about the cloaking. Well on PC that is, I haven't played the PS3 version. I just recently bought the PC version (Under 8.00 on STEAM) and I've walked past the enemy within 5 feet of them with no problem. Now IF you cloak afater they see you they seem to know where you are more easily. Maybe they see the "Shimmer" or something. Anyways the cloak works great on PC version.

Enemies can have eagle vision at times, but I like how cloak works in Crysis compared to Crysis 2. It was way overpowered in C2, especially after suit upgrades: Covert Ops (nullify all sounds of movement), Cloak Enhancement (stay cloaked much longer), Nano-Recharge (faster energy recharge), and Mobility Enhancement (reduces energy used for sprinting, power jumping). You could sneak through large, heavily guarded areas really easily, it became a win button at that point. C1 doesn't have the suit upgrades, so even if you're cloaked, not only can enemies see the cloaking effect up close, but they can hear your footsteps. It can be weird when they spot you from far away surrounded by a ton of foliage, but that's more of an AI thing than cloak being weak. Managing your Nanosuit energy is much more vital in C1, and I like that.

Sky, I also have the PC version and there is a difference between how the enemies see you in both imo. I've cloaked before going into an area with enemies and they start firing as if they saw me. Like Flawless said, they can spot you several hundred feet away and I even had guys spotting me on the boats in the water as I was by the mountain area walking by the trees and plants. Other than that, I am having a blast with this and glad that it came out on the consoles since I'm not much of a PC gamer.

I downloaded Crysis for the X360 over the weekend. I was playing on normal and kept getting killed. I know I am terrible at FPS but just wondering what level are you all playing at. I'm thinking of going to easy. Maybe I'll enjoy the game more at that level. Thoughts?

I've never played Crysis 1 or 2, but watched some gameplay videos. Do all enemies have the same face? I've noticed in C1, when you catch enemies by the throat, they all look the same. True?

Really want to download this, as I enjoyed the second one and haven't got a chance to play the first, but I am trying to finish Rage, still playing Gears 3 quite a bit and Arkham City is coming out in 4 days. I'll get around to playing this eventually.

Ah the wonders of unlimited cloaking...needless to say I never had a problem with it. Except this one time in water. Something got buggered up there but otherwise it was great. I liked sneaking up on a dude, grabbing them then chokeslamming him through the roof. Then I'd cloak again when the rest of them came running into the buliding to see what happend.
