Re: Oblivion - PS3 and PSP...

For all the brains on this site, you guys have failed too mention the obvious PSP PS3 inter operability connection. The PSP version could simply be a character developement game on the go or side adventures from the overall console game. The reason Bethesda didn't make it for the PS2, wasn't because it couldn't handle it, it was because PS2 didn't have a HDD, well the PSP is viewed as a mass media storage device.

At the TGS, did you see how Kojima stated that the PSP, will be used as side adventures or be used as the little otacon message center. You will play MGS4 on the PS3 and your audio video info can come directly too your PSP.

That's ridiculous... so to really play Obivlion on the PSP, you're going to buy the game twice, once for PS3 and then obviously the PSP version. I could see some interaction with the 2 games, but who's going to buy 2 copies of the game to do that? That's over $100 for one game.

Because that worked so well for the gba and gamecube right?

Its ridiculous to you and the other haters on this board, and besides I said that could be an option. So what if an oblivion fan wants to buy both versions thats his or her right. Hell most of the poster here buy 2 games in the same genre all the time like basketball and football, and I know you're going too say thats different its made by 2 different companies and the games play different. But you still bought 2 basketball games.

I agree, it's their right. But the way you make it sound is like you would need to have both versions to truly play the game. I know neither of us know what they will be doing, but I'll stand by my opinion of it'll be a more linear version of the game. You could be right, who knows, but if that's the idea they have, the PSP version won't sell many copies.

You can call us haters all you want, you love every single thing Sony does, I owned a PSP, it wasn't for me. I sold it. It was a great system, but there was no original titles that I couldn't play on my PS2. Now with GTA Liberty Stories coming to the PS2 as well as Lumines, I wouldn't have a single need for it.

Dreamcast dropped hella bombs in 4th qtr 01 on Sony and it didn't affect anything, we'll see if Peter Moore gets it this time. If they drop GOW during launch it will have a weak impact because by the time Sony catches up with demand the game won't make a dent months after releasing.
Of course Sony will sell out of PS3's for months no matter what software Microsoft has during that span. Thank you captain obvious.

Like i've said before, Microsoft will have the channel full with 360's, and will be able to supply that channel with more than Sony or Nintendo. Microsoft will need great games, if they plan to sell those 360's. They aren't going to magically sell themselves with the hype of 2 console launches, especially the TREMENDOUS hype the PS3 will have.

I guess Microsoft should just release crappy games during that span, and let Sony and Nintendo steamroll them.

I also love MS and its XBOX games, I just don't go around pissing on technology because I think it ridiculous. I'm a convergence nut, Sony puts a lot of features in its product and yes not all of its done well, but it gets the job done. As for the PSP, I love the crap out of the device, and if you've been playing games just as long as I have, then you will know that originality has long since left the bldg. on any console or handheld. Now its just a game of what are you willing to pay for.

I agree, and if I didn't own a PS2, I would have kept my PSP. For me, handhelds are a 10-15 min venture, so the DS does it's job perfectly for me. But I won't bash the PSP, because it's the best techincal handheld I've ever seen and we may see until the PSP2. I love the stuff you can do on it, surf the web, play games, listen to MP3's, view pictures, watch movies, etc. It's a great device.

Its coming out to the PSP ONLY; IGN got their info from the official Playstation E3 site. On the site there is a video in which the game is mentioned for PSP. I didn't hear them say anything about a PS2 version.

Late in the day yesterday, Sony Computer Entertainment's Official PlayStation Website launched a video that hinted at the company's E3 plans. Hosted by PlayStation Underground personalities Steve Truitt and Diane Mizota, the teaser talked about the company's big plans for next month's Electronic Entertainment Expo and how the publisher plans to do things. Several game titles were dropped, but one of the most interesting monikers was "Lumines 2," the previously unannounced sequel to last year's hit PSP puzzler.
