Will Sony release the price and date for the PS3 at E3

I still remember last year and how certian I was the 360 and PS3 would lay the cards on the table. I even remember saying "Sony CAN'T miss announcing the detailas at E3."

Well here we are again and...Sony CAN'T miss announcing the details at E3...can they? In my twisted mind, a lack of date and price with 6-7 months to go is a sign that something isn't right.

No, they'll release that info at TGS in September; Late August the earliest

One of the IGN editors let it slip that theres a better than 50/50 chance it will happen at E3 but I doubt it.

Announcing the info in August/September gives retailers more than enough time to prep for launch...Pre-sales are usually done without prior knowledge of info; so unless Sony waits until say... late Oct things should be fine... TGS

It was speculation that it'd be $399.

I see them leaving us a price range but the exact date? nah.

Nah, I don't see a date being released either. Just Fall. I think September at TGS is when we'll get all that info.

Even if it's $199, why release the price. MS would come back the next day and lower the 360 to $179 and run ads that it's already out at a cheaper price. Which then gives them 6 months at a lower price already. Sony knows what they are doing, if the system is $199 or $2000, we won't know it until a month or 2 before it comes out.

I personally don't think that M$ would give in this quick to lower their price when they're already making good sales profits already. I would already expect them to lower their price by the time the PS3 is coming out. I kind of expect a better range for where the PS3 might be now that I think about it rather than a flatout price. It's a chance. I just think that the XBOX 360 already has a price reduction in the making set for the launch of the PS3. Almost an inevitable outcome when the fall/winter comes by. Sony has to take that into consideration and see if they can get those systems into homes. It's a very good chess match where the next move is so crucial. FEEL THAT PRESSURE.......

I don't think MS will lower the price since a $399 price tag is a huge bath for Sony and they will never have enough units here for the holidays. I can see them doing a price change at next years E3 but not this one.

Microsoft has no reason to drop their prices, no matter how much the PS3 is...The PS3 is not the big monster everyone thinks its going to be. Now we are adults here...use a little common since....

Sony Vs Microsoft....The PS2 was the weaker technological system of the 2...in the last run....only reason Sony stayed on top was the year head start and more titles...and alot of exclusive.....

What makes you think Sony's technology will overlap Microsoft a company who does computers and cpu gaming as a living...not just a recreation.....

PS3 no doubt will be a great system in its own way. But unless your filthy rich you will never see it, or the graphics they promised...
Buy a special dual av 1 t.v. that will run 1080p is like $10,000...not to mention in another forum a developer spoke out and said the only game they can see even running at 1080p would be tetris...lol....

Sony's former strengths of exclusives are gone, THQ is bringing the smackdown vs raw series to 360, Square Enix is releasing Final Fantasy 13 and 14 on the 360. The team who makes devil may cry and onimusha combined teams to create lost planet exclusive to 360.

Something is wrong with that and PS3. Even the guy who makes God of War decided to keep the series on the PS2 not PS3......Definitely some development issues with PS3 and thats a big weakness and a major Advantage Microsoft will have over Sony.

Not to mention by Nov. 25th when the PS3 is releasing the US it is only getting around 340,000 to 400,000 systems....by that date..Microsoft will have over 6 to 7 millions units sold in the US and over 100 titles in stores....what makes you think they will drop the price...

They have the upper hand in this Next-gen battle...and winning team should never lower their standards / prices if they don't have to.. $399.99 is a good price for all the 360 does....

Toy R Us...has already started pre-orders but its a bundle with a game a generic controller and stuff like that...

I don't think other stores will be pre-ordering because of the US shortages..I mean 400,000 spread out over the US...thats not enough to even cover 10 states...
