Re: Mass Effect Pre-Release discussion
Player classes. It's probably no different than any other RPG with classes. Of course you will have an easier time playing as a Soldier (Warrior) than playing as an Adept (Mage).Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

The Mass Effect Diaries: Part Three
While all of that stuff is certainly cool, it’s the ability to make your character look just as you’d like that we found most intriguing. Our friends at BioWare obviously agree, as they sent us some exclusive collages of the many faces of Commander Shepard.
Like many games that have a character creation tool, you’ll be able to start from scratch or use one of a number of templates. There are dozens (if not hundreds) of options, from the ability to change their skin color to their hair styles to, naturally, the gender. Most of the stuff is pretty standard for the genre, although I was personally a big fan of the different scars that you can apply. Seriously, is there anything more intimidating than a dude with a Lemmy-style handlebar moustache and a scar running down the side of his face?
Honestly, I could spend all day screwing around with the character creation tool, and it looks like that’s exactly what the guys at BioWare did this morning. Take a look at some of their examples, then start thinking about the hero of your dreams!

Re: Mass Effect Pre-Release discussion
Well I already know what class I'm choosing:
SENTINEL - Biotic/Tech
"The Sentinel is the most flexible class, able to combine tech and biotics to manipulate the environment, disable and attack enemies, or defend the party.
* Gameplay focus is on protecting the party using kinetic barriers and healing it with advanced medical training."
In every RPG I've ever played I've always chosen the support/healing class for the main character that I'll be controlling. Hearing that there are some "class inbalances" has me hoping that I don't have too hard of a time getting through the game.
I'm assuming we can only have 3-party members at a time, so I figure I'll build each of them to be a hybrid of some-sort: One guy will have to be the Tank/Melee (someone who can take a beating and do decent damage), one guy will be the Debuffer/Nuker (someone who can weaken the enemy and inflict big damage), and I'll fill the role of Healer/Support (healing and enhancing my squad)...
If I can build that setup then I should be good regardless of the difficulty.Last edited by DLaren; 11-14-2007, 02:29 AM.

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Mass Effect Pre-Release discussion
I knew someone was going to say this and really the answer is no. I had made my decision prior to even knowing that you'd get it on with another female. I initially thought that it would just be flipped into a male alien.
Is it something I'd like to see? I'd be lying if I said no."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
