In the end though, I'd have to say Nintendo came out on top. Going into the event a lot of the hype surrounded the Playstation 3 and whether or not Microsoft would announce a price drop for the 360. Nintendo kind of snuck in and showed off some pretty innovative software and did exactly what they needed to do, and that was to create a buzz. E3 is like one giant ad-campaign for console makers and Nintendo benefited the most from that. The wait to get some hands-on time with the Wii has been estimated as high as 5 hours and it seems like more people are talking about it now than they were on May 8th. If one could measure how many consoles Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony sold via E3 this year I think Nintendo would see the biggest increase. If they had announced a price for the Wii then it would almost be a no-brainer who won E3. And to top it all off, the Nintendo DS is also looking very strong.
And for what it's worth, the consensus at IGN seems to be that Nintendo came out on top as well (at least this is the opinion of the editors appearing in their E3 Day 3 video).
So that's what I think, what do you think?
