Sorry to take this off-topic, but that's a load of malarky.

    (c) It is the most widely used and no virus writer gives a rat's *** about the other 0.5% of the users out there. (yes I made that number up)

I can guarantee you that if OSX held the massive market share that Windows does, it would garner the same share of attention. Firefox devs (and it's users) learned this in a hurry. When its usage grew dramatically, so too did the viruses that targeted it.

Hell, I asked about the HDD where a sony fan suggested that it uses a serial ATA Drive that's easily replaceable. My question was, if the HDD is internal, would upgrading your HDD void your warranty with Sony if you open it up?

Not everyone that owns a 360 tries to bash sony. So have legitimate questions.
There's a slot on the side of the system where the HDD just gets pulled out. I have some pics posted in the Non-Sports Gaming Thread of what the entire system looks like.

The OS that's written for the Xbox360 i've read is a stripped down version of WinXP and i've read and maybe Flaw can look this up weighs in at about 1meg. It's not as easy to hack something that small when the purpose of the system is very limited i.e. games and multiplayer.

As far as the PS3 goes what OS will it be running? Will it be Linux or a special version of it? Can viruses easily be written for that OS. What level of intrusion or damage can result from that virus.

I'm sure Sony has taken all of this into account with the OS they'll use on the PS3. I just don't see the level of viruses or intrusion on a console that you get from a PC.

Besides on XBL if you lost a HDD, you can recover everything you downloaded from MS. I see Sony doing the same in a worst case scenario.

The bottom line I feel everyone is worrying a little too much about something that's really hard to do.

A virus can be written for any OS. The name of the OS does not make it immune from a virus.

While this is true, the default settings enabling the effectiveness of the virus can help users feel "immune".

Windows in inherently bad at this.....I've heard the ps3 is going to be using a Linux variant; which is a plus.

It will not help for long, if it is operating software even a varient version is vulnerable to virus risk. Linux is also not user friendly. There are people who are very skilled at writing software virus that can exploit any software including Linux and any Linux varient. If the PS3 is popular there will be people busy writing virus for the PS3 OS ready to screw the PS3 owners.
