I've never had a warranty on any launch console or otherwise and have never had any problems. My launch 360 still works fine, my launch PS2 worked for three years before I wanted a new one (no reason...just new), and I exchanged my Xbox for one with the different disc drive because the Thomson drive sucked. No problems with any Nintendo system, save my SNES, which somehow lost the ability to display green after ten years.

I know I've been lucky, as I've had problems with prior HDTV's, but all in all just know that around 5% of ALL high tech gear will have problems, new models or established.

*And of course you only read about people having problems...which is really a VERY small slice of owners. How many have 360's on here? And how many have had problems other than a few random freezes or DDE's, which are to be expected!?*

I've only had 2 videogame system crap out on me during the last 20+ years of gaming.

The original NES, remember all the blowing into the cartridges and into the system itself to get it to work. I think I went through 2-3 NES's during the years.

Of course the PS1, I bought it 6 months after launch and I think I went through 3 of these.

Not bad.

Agreed, well, not on Nintendo, I think you can bulldoze Nintendo systems and they will still work : )

You can bounce any Nintendo system off the wall, plug it in and it will still work. Top quality.

When I picked up Tomb Raider I signed a "call me when PS3 is ready to preorder" list @ the EB down the street from me. Hopefully that'll give me a better shot at securing a launch console, there were no more than 15 people ahead of me.

It's sounds like you have a good shot at one. I've read from this forum that EB/Gamestop might ask for 50% down.

My original NES and SNES were both submerged in water when my basement flooded. Still good as new.

lets hope they have better luck with early pre-orders than EB/Gamestop did with the 360.
