Actually its still is pricey. Its the 3rd most expensive console ever released. The top 2 were massive disasters. I'm not saying that the PS3 will be but it makes you think.

I think that it was $149 or $199, but almost sure it was $149. I remember when I received this thing for XMAS and couldn't believe how Super Mario Bros. was amazing.

I take that back, the regular version was $199 with 2 controllers + Super Mario Bros. Then there was the deluxe for $249 with 2 controllers, light gun, R.O.B., Super Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt, and Gyromite.

yeah, not really sure Sony's gunning to have the PS3 named along the Neo Geo or 3DO anytime soon

I just know the PS3 is too expensive for me, and i love giving my money away to gaming companies.

Most of the older systems also came with games, and 2 controllers. If you add that in to the ps3 price, you are lookng at 600 + 60 + 40 = 700 plus tax. Thats crazy.

I just upgraded my PC to pretty much top of the line and paid less than that. This is going to be the first time since atari I havn't bought a new console.

I'm just throwing this out there but let's say that I am buy a Next-Gen system both for the gaming and Bluray/HDDVD:

XBOX 360 Premium/20GB HD - $400
HD-DVD Drive - $100
2 Games - $120
Wireless Controller - $50
Play and Charge Kit - $20
Xbox Live for a Yr - $50
Exntended Warranty - $60
Tax(i'll use $50 for both) - $50
Grand Total - $850

PS3/60GB - $600
2Games - $120(if they are indeed $60)
Extra Controller - $50
Exnt Warranty - $60
Tax - $50
Grand Total - $880

Ofcourse in the end the 360 will be even more expensive with getting more Gold cards to play online and what not. The main reason the PS3 is "pricey" is because of the fact that Blu-Ray is mandatory, the 360 on the other hand, you have the option for the HD-DVD. I'm saying if I want to be able to watch HD-DVD on the 360 I would need that Drive. Not to mention you get 40 extra gigs on the PS3.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I would need the Remote to watch my movies on the 360, so thats an extra $30. Evens it out. Not sure if the PS3 is the same as the PS2 or if you would need a remote also.

LOL at you trying to post a bias price list to justify being stiffed in the behind by Sony.

If you want a playstation 3, just buy it, but dont try to make it seem as though Sony isnt giving you the shaft by trying to make it seem as though the other console is also stuffing you dry, when we all know both companies make money off of accessories.

I could concoct a list like that for any system if I really wanted to, but this is just pathetic.
