How? If I want the whole entertainment aspect along with the games, it evens out. Not to mention I want wireless controllers along with being able to charge them. I have to buy those extra with the 360 when they come right out of the box with the PS3. Makes no difference for me as i'm in it for gaming and am getting a 360 in June but my whole point was that sure it's pricey if you want it for just gaming. A lot of people though like the whole entertainment aspect and I think the PS3 as a lot to offer right out of the box and is affordable if you want it for everything.

Did you add the $ for the TV you'll need to get the 1080P from PS3?

Most of the older systems also came with games, and 2 controllers. If you add that in to the ps3 price, you are lookng at 600 + 60 + 40 = 700 plus tax. Thats crazy.

heh...I'm not a "Sony guy". I never sold my XBOX because NFL2K5 is still an amazing game.

Just getting one next gen console and when I saw the 360, I said I would wait to see what PS3 brought to the table. I'm definitely satisfied and relieved that I held out.

What in god's name made you "relieved" you held out? My only guess could be that you are a huge MSG fan, because Sony had nothing that made it look better than the 360 at E3. And so far, the 360 has the best looking games coming.

I also held out, but I also choked on the price and said screw it.

Lets quit adding the $100 dvd drive into the costs too since it is OPTIONAL for the 360. Most people won't buy it. Atleast we have a choice. With Sony you have to pay for the blue-ray drive wether you want to use it or not.

Anyway you cut it, the PS3 is "Pricey". I can buy an Wii and 360 for the cost of a ps3. now if thats not pricey, I don't know what is.

Look people, if you want a PS3, just the system, no other b/s, it will cost you either $499 or $599. If you want a 360 it will cost you $299 or $399. Make your decision, have some fun, end of story.

I still beleive its pricey but heres an article that trys to show that it not pricey after all.

If you have a HDTV & want to watch movies in HD, it's not expensive at all..It's rather cheap..Saves me 400.00.. Next gen BR player/Next gen console for 600.00..

The only thing worse than the price is the people trying to justify it.

It's easy to justify the price..You just refuse to see the logic.. A new format (BR) Very expensive, plus a next gen gaming console that supports 1080p, expensive. I guess you aren't tech savy enough to see this, or you are blinded by the hatred you have for Sony..

I love my 360, & will buy the 'overpriced' PS3..

no one can justify the whole blu-ray crap...I didn't ask for it...and its not saving me anymore money....I never planned on buying a BR dvd player....so its too damn much really....

I'm comfortable with my 360 and from the looks of it, they have alot of titles coming out. As the PS3 has about two or three I want... If you look at my gamertag...I own almost every title on 360 and they have great games and alot more to come...

PS3 is not a necessary purchase...And its a big dip in my pockets....
Watching movies in HD is over-rated who cares, its a movie you watch it maybe once and then it sits up in a closet or something until you watch it again....

Games are played all the time, DVD Movies do not have the same replay value...and it surely isn't worth 499 or 599...thats too much..

And the games will be 60 - 70 bucks a game thanks to these drives...Thats too much....Buy a $70 game and then it sucks, it might trade back for $25 or $30 bucks..I just lost 40 to 45 dollars...thats a leap...

There is no excuse or way to defend them...its too much for a feature we didn't ask for....HD-DVD would have been fine....

Oh!!! And to those who will take this as a bias comment...whatever...Heavenly Sword rocked and that Heavy Rain Trailer was sick...Cell will be great with time....but it will cost me an a$$ load of money to enjoy the features...

If I was just buying it to play games, yes, it would be a lot of cash..But I'm also buying it to play BR discs..Stand alone players cost a grand..The PS3 is saving me 400.00.. I don't like the fact that Sony is 'forcing' us to support their new format..But in the end it doesn't bother me personally cause I'm saving money.. Watching movies in HD is overrated? That is an ignorant comment..Complaining won't make the price go down..Just wait 5 yrs until it's 99.00..

Sony has lost a great deal of it's bite with the loss of a ton of exclusives, and for me, that's the bottom line. Borrowing from Herm Edwards:

"YOU BUY. TO PLAY. THE GAMES!!!"

I'd be hesitant to drop 900 bucks for my next-gen rig if there wasn't any other competition...and I sure as hell won't pay it when there is a less expensive, equally impressive GAME system available and I can get 90% of games I really want. Smackdown, RE5, GTA4, Assassin's Creed...all heavy-hitters that would have swayed me towards the PS3 as exclusives but are all virtually guaranteed to be on my machine. I thought Forza > GT4 in this gen, so for me GTHD is no big deal, and while Japanese support is slow, at least there will be a few really good Japanese rpg's to roll with (Lost Oddysey, Blue Dragon, Star Ocean, Phantasy Star) unlike the current XBOX. I'd love to play MSG4, Tekken6 and MLB...but I think Halo, GOW, Mass Effect, Lost Planet, and most importantly, a freakin' ***MARVEL MMORPG*** will somehow tide me over.

Also, Live and XBLA are far more certain than the yet unverified Sony online format, and I think anyone who believes that they'll get the same funtionality of Live for free on Sony's box is a little naive.

All that said, Sony does have impressive architecture, and I will have one eventually..maybe sometime in 2008....but until then, the PS3 is a huge investment, with very, very little return over the comp's product, IMO. I don't really think the 30.00 version Benchwarmers is going to be any funnier in 1080p...

Unless blu-ray goes the way of every other Sony backed media format.

I don't see the logic of buying a PS3 specifically for blu-ray. Especially when looking at Sony's track record when pushing their proprietary format as an industry standard.

Not to mention stand alone BR players won't be a grand for very long.
