Air exhaust from my 360 is 101 degree's no freezes yet.
I have a launch 360 no problems yet. I ordered the intercooler but its not here yet. The exhaust from my 360 is 101 degree's no freezes but I'm definately curious to what other's exhaust temps are at. The manual says peak normal temp is 95. I know im pushing the limits."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Tags: None -

Is the air temperature around your XBOX 360 above 85 F? I have a room with air temp about 86 F with no AC. -

Still fine here. I didn't have the AC on yesterday and it seemed fine (that was the warmest day of the year until today).
Today I turned the AC on so it's 70 inside. I haven't turned the 360 on yet, but I'm sure it will be fine with the cooler inside temp and since I haven't had any problems to date.
Still haven't bought an intercooler and never will. Ripoff IMO.Comment

Also two websites IGN and TeamXbox did a review and confirmed it does lower temps in your 360. It's plain common sense, your naturally pulling more air into the 360 and blowing it out the back at a faster rate.
I've been building PC's for years and it's common for overclockers to use fans to move air in and out of their rigs as fast as they can. That brings temps down.Comment

It might lower the temp, but it's not needed IMO. I've also been building PC's and in the tech industry for years and I can assure everyone and anyone that MS didn't make the 360 without providing the necessary cooling for the machine to function properly. If one wants it to be cooler.....that's fine. It's not doing any harm.....It's just not needed.
It's a users choice. Spend the money on it or not? Same results either way. The makers of the intercooler were smart though. They provided an item due to a lot of people freaking out early on. Anyone recall the rumor that a few 360's MELTED? People actually believed that.
IGN or another review also stated that the intercooler does cool the 360, but isn't necessary. I didn't need the review to realize that though.
It's very simple. All products are run through VERY detailed stress tests. The 360 was tested under very cold and very hot temperatures amongst other things. it passed all those tests or it wouldn't have been released.
I'd be willing to be that the majority of 360's that had issues weren't properly ventilated.
For those that bought one and need to justify their purchase, go ahead. No sweat off my back. I'm just here to point out it's not needed.Last edited by mjb2124; 05-28-2006, 05:01 PM.Comment

IGN actually says:
$19.99 is rather cheap as accessories go these days. If it saves you $400 later on, it's probably a pretty good deal.Dramatically increases airflow through the 360 chassis.
Im definitly getting it, cant be too safe with a 400 dollar machineLast edited by Kevin26385; 05-28-2006, 05:06 PM.Comment

Re: Air exhaust from my 360 is 101 degree's no freezes yet.
Just picked up an intercooler today. I'm sure that joeboo is right that the 360 has been extensively tested and the and most if not all overheating issues were a result of people being careless and not allowing proper ventilation. Just the same it wasn't too much and it is never a bad thing to have an piece of electronic equipment run a little cooler. I am very pleased with what I have seen so far from the intercooler though. The air being ventilated out of the back is definitely cooler and the system itself does not seem to heat up at all. It wasn't as loud as I thought it would be either.Comment

At the same time people have had it fail for no reason...yet the 360 has been extensivly tested?
It can happenComment

How many people who's 360 failed didn't use proper A/V conditions with their 360? How many didn't leave it ventilated enough? How many left it on the floor? How many left it near another device producing heat? That's NOT the fault of the 360 or the fault of MS's testing.
All I'm saying is I have 2 laptops and 2 PC's in my house that ALL run hotter than the 360. I have a $2500 DLP TV that runs hotter than the 360. I live in a house with 0 shading at all. I get direct sunlight in every room and I have no worries at all of my 360 overheating. Why? Because I know that I've used correct AV conditioning to keep my equipment running smooth. If it fails, I know it's not due to lack of ventilation or something I did wrong.
It's just common sense. If someone adheres to proper AV conditions, their 360 will run fine.Last edited by mjb2124; 05-28-2006, 05:56 PM.Comment

Re: Air exhaust from my 360 is 101 degree's no freezes yet.
Originally posted by joebooSuch is life with electronics. Things fail not due to lack of stress testing (hot/cold) or testing in general, but because electronic equipment isn't 100% perfect and never will be. There's no doubt the 360 has been extensively tested. Anything else would be suicide for MS. It's just that ALL electronic equipment has a failure rate. The 360 falls in that rate of MS would be forced to recall it.
