Re: Nintendo DS Lite Street Date Broken?
I got one this morning at Super Target by my house. I called them last night and they said they weren't selling them and then I find out from another message board that a guy bought one at 9:30 pm last night. He sends me a copy of his receipt, so I headed there this morning and picked one up.
My wife might go back in a few hours as they had a few to buy them up, hopefully I can sell some on ebay and make some money.

Originally posted by HolicHow did the sale go? Did it ring right up for you? Most have it in the system as Do Not Sell Til 6/11/06.
Before she even rung it up, I quickly asked if I could purchase it up at the retail registers, figuring they wouldn't have as much info about the release date. She said I had to purchase it in the electronics department, and I thought for sure the transaction wasn't going to happen. I was totally expecting her to say we can't sell them until the 11th or at least be alerted in her system not to sell them. That didn't happen and she rung up the sale just like any sale.
The one thing I did notice as I looked at my receipt more carefully is that the description of the item just says "Nintendo DS". No mention about the "Lite". That kind of leads me to believe that the retailers weren't notified about the "new" DS and they just figured it was just the original DS, but in a different shade of color. Who knows.
There's a Game Stop next to the Target where I purchased the product. I walked next door and promptly canceled my preorder I had with them. They said they were fully aware of the error made by Target and Wal-Mart, and they had even contacted their regional manager to put in a complaint. They said they didn't blame me for purchasing it early, and that the Targets and Wal-Marts will be heavily fined and reprimanded. In any case, I used the preorder credit and picked up Mario Kart and Brain Age.PSN: sportdan30

Originally posted by sportdan30The sale went like this. The DS Lites were in a case right next to a few of the originals. I was rather surprised to see the DS Lites just sitting there. There were approximately 5 of them. I asked a girl who seemed rather "clueless" if I could purchase something out of the case. I guess I wouldn't say "clueless" was the right word, but she seemed like someone who was just put in that department, but didn't have a lot of knowledge about electronics. Maybe I'm way off. If I get someone with gaming experience or knowledge of the industry, I'm probably S.O.L.

Re: Nintendo DS Lite Street Date Broken?
I only played for about 30 minutes so far and my hands feel comfortable. I don't have big hands, so it feels great. You don't want to wrap your hands completely around this system, it feels a bit uncomfy.
Comparing this to the OG DS, again I only played the old DS that my friend has so I never owned one.
-I think the system is sleeker looking which can compete w/ the PSP finally interms of looks. It has the Ipod Video ceramic look.
-I like the smaller design better and it literally is a bit taller than the IPOD when closed.
-Screen is much brighter. Bigger + for me compared to the old DS.
-If you buy the DS or DS Lite, I highly recommend getting NSMB. That game is so cool and a throwback to the original. Great game.
-Stylus is bigger and fatter than the last.
-The power button now is on the side which is a nice addition.
-Only con I find so far is that the D-pad, Start + Select buttons are too small. The Start & Select buttons are so small I had to hit them twice.
-One more thing, I don't think that the volume is loud enough on max.Comment

Re: Nintendo DS Lite Street Date Broken?
I picked up one Wednesday as well. Here are my impressions compared to the original.
Great deal smaller and compact. But since it is smaller, when you put a regular GBA game in it sticks out quite a bit so you might not want to keep a gba game in when in storage.
I think it feels better than the original. I used to get cramps with the old one, but this one feels better. The dpad is smaller but feels better. I did find that when my hands start to sweat the white plastic finish starts to get slick so I have to hold it tighter, and white does show smudges as well but not as bad as the PSP.
The start and select are really small and click when you press them, I don't like that.
The power button is like the PSP, not an actual click switch you just push up and hold then release and it turns on. I like this feature as I was always turning mine off by accident.
The sound is not as loud as original as well. On my old ds there was a high pitched noise when I was wearing headphones I don't here that now.
The screen is the best though. Mario looks so much better, every game looks so much better it really is a good screen. There are 4 brightness settings but I don't know why you wouldn't choose the brightest every time unless you were worried about the battery.
I really like this new ds and I've read that you can trade in your old one for $70 bucks next week so I will be doing that. They still could have modified it a little more but that will be next year.
Yes pick up NSMB it is a great game and when you pause the game(close the lid) mario says goodbye and when you open it he welcomes you.XBL: Countach
