After DSHBD update 360 HDD gives 1GB back?

Something is going on here, it just frees up the last part of a already partially available gig. I had 6gb free before updating, and now I have 7.

I thought I noticed another gig added to my total, but deleted some videos at the same time but didn't really realize it. I went from 10 gigs to 11.

same here, i deleted all the vids and music that came with the 360 and got a lot of memory back, then i downloaded a bunch of demos etc, added music also, and still have 11 gig available..

I think that this is a great thing. I have a feeling that eventually with enough updates that we will get more of the HDD space back with future updates to the system. They might be compressing some files.

After reading about this on someones blog, I decided to do a little test. I had bought Uno, but I heard all I have to do is call MS and they will get it back on my system. The rest of the demos I redownloaded this morning that I had on my system after I tried this last night.

I had to see this with my own eyes to believe it and this allowed me to clean up the HDD.

You can just redownload Uno. You can redownload anything you paid for. Only thing you can't is Hexic, you have to get that approved by MS to get back. They have been known to fight you on getting the code back for some reason.

Yep. I was told by a supervisor that under no circumstances could I get it back. It was impossible - even though I told him I KNEW it wasn't and had downloaded it before after contacting them. I said "All I need is the code". He still refused stating it wasn't possible.

I called again a few days later and spoke to another supervisor stating I was unhappy with that type of service and thought it was BS. He said it wasn't a problem and told me I'd get my code within 72 hours. I did.

It just rounds up your space as opposed to rounding down. According to the load screen on MLB 2k6 I have 12.55GB free, and yet on the dashboard it now says "13 GB free" as opposed to the "12 GB" I used to have.

So clearing the cache (holding A when booting up) gets rid of the updates? Like the NBA 2K update, etc?
