no plethora of bad scores will keep me from this game.

Just dont forget, however, that there are about three other reviews with a 9.5 rating (or equivalent) or higher...

Yep. Which is why at the end of the day if I'm not sure I wait for OS impressions or I rent.
I wont lie either as I can say I'll "pass" on a game based on reviews and impression and still buy it right away. I'm weak.

My original point was just saying you can't dismiss a review but you can certainly take the obvious points from a review into consideration.

Hil had some pretty harsh things to say.

"Assassin's Creed is probably one of the top 5 most disappointing games of all time, when you consider it's potential."

"Biggest disappointment is the story"

"Assassin's Creed is a game you're probably better off renting, because you're only going to want to play it once, and you may not even want to finish it at that."

My Gamestop will have it around 5, they are going to pick it up.

Mine will have it tonight as well. But I'm going to wait till tomorrow to get it at $39.99 at FRYs.

Judging by the reviews so far, I think the pacing is what's going to ruin this game. Repetitive gameplay is forgivable if it's offered in a fast-paced and fun environment that doesn't take itself too seriously, like Crackdown. But it sounds like AC takes itself a lot more seriously and is much slower paced in regard to the story, which can make repetitive gameplay a real grind. Not a good combo.

LOL at people who let reviews dictate whether they buy a game or not. It's possible that some of the reviewers don't like this type of game. It has received a few very good scores.

Reviews haven't dictated any of my decisions on this game.

I made the decision based on watching videos of the game. I know what type of games excite me and I know what kind of things in a game eventually make me want to stop playing.

Assassin's Creed, unfortunately, is the type of game I'll play for a while and then stop playing. So I rather rent it. It also seems short enough for me to beat it on one or two rentals. With BB Total Access, that seems like a no-brainer rather than spending 60 bucks.

I can't believe I'm saying this after how excited I was for this game initially, but I think I'm going to hold off. Releasing in November coupled with some not so glowing reviews is really going to hurt the sales of this game IMO. Most people are loving CoD4 right now and with Mass Effect, Rock Band and College Hoops coming next week, I think this game could get lost in the shuffle.

anything over $50 definitely deserves a second thought if you have doubts.....

ive made this mistake a couple times......thats why ill rent first
