What I don't understand is why IGN and these other sites don't bring these things up before the game comes out. They always say that when they do previews that they assume that problems are going to be fixed yet they gloss over the issues and then slam the game in the review. And what makes it worse is that they run previews for most of the major games up until the release day yet they always talk about how great everything is.

How does this game compare to the Hitman series?....I have always liked Hitman, eventhough they don't get the best reviews.

I couldnt agree more, that review carries much more credibility since we now know that the guy actually played through the entire game and not just the first few levels/chapters and quit.

Every person should read what this guy has to say. Its great when a reviewer posts his gamertag so you actually know that he played the game all the way through.

I'm sure there are places that do not play a game through, but the main ones certainly. The IGN reviewer demonstrated to me he played the game through and his criticisms seem valid and carry merit as he didn't just knock the game for it's ending. He disliked the eavesdropping, the pretentious aura the game had, and as well the initial plot twist. What was most damning in my opinion was his critique of the AI (particularly the scenario he outlined in regards to the guards on rooftops). I haven't played the game myself and perhaps I'll get around to it but the game did not sound like a big hit in that review and the things he disliked I know I would have a similar take on. At any rate, its obvious this game is going to have a lot of differing opinions so one will have to play it for him/herself ultimately.

I've been to Demascus and that other city (where it seems to be british people maybe lol) and I honestly feel like this game is nothing short of amazing... the missions aren't feeling repetitive to me and I'm loving every minute of these sidequests/running from guards/gathering information. And the little Sci Fi twist isn't bad neither... everything is coming together well... i'd give this game a low to mid 9

Welp there goes my will power, I guess I'll be picking this up now. I think many of us have a reviewer mentality especially with so many great games out now, we just want to get through them talk about it on the forums and move to the next.

Fry's didn't get it today, so I'll check it out Friday most likely, I doubt Fry's will be open after the concert I'm going to. Still sounds to be worth 40 bucks, especially when that'll be recouped selling it to Gamestop later.

Thanks for posting this. He makes some excellent points. And, truth be told, I actually had some similar feelings, intuitively, watching, for example, the IGN review. A lot of the complaints seemed a bit picky - almost as though he was rushing though the game and not enjoying it for what it is. How he bashed the eavesdropping thing for example: he said something about 'that's all it is ... just sitting there'. Well, you're a stealth assassin, dude! It was like he was expecting there to be constant combat or button mashing. Weird.

Anyway, yeah, definitely picking this up. Maybe even tomorrow.

I love pick pocketing! If you really get into this game and not just try to run around and do everything all fast paced, its awesome! The reviews scared me but after playing it for a few hours, i love it.

You guys have probably already seen this but the game got a magnificent review from Gamespot. Which in my opinion blows IGN out of the water, IGN in fact has become a joke as of late.... can't take anything they say seriously.

Question for anyone who's started the game:

Ok, I'm about an hour into the game. I'm already confused. Towards the beginning, right before you wake up and control Desmond for the first time, you see Altair get stabbed. When you go back into the animus, Altair's alive. He raises the point about appearing to have been stabbed, and something is said to explain it, but I didn't catch it. Can someone explain what happened?

Yeah, I believe it...just won't be around there until after 8 or 9 i think. No rush, I can get it this weekend...

Thx for the impressions everyone. And for that pennyarcade link. I stay away from certain sources like IGN, EGM, and 1up because of their bad review history (imo) but all the negative buzz killed my enthusiasm for the title - even though I know better. After reading impressions here and that link, I'm back on board. Looking forward to picking it up

I bought the game when I got home, but then I had to run out and help my cousin with sheet rock from Home Dept. So No I'm Home and I'm doing some things around the apartment, so I'm not sure if I will even play it tonight, I hope I will though.
