Honsetly this game isn't that great, in my opinion. Graphics are ok, kinda PS2 ish, even the cut scenes are substandard. Game slows down considerably and the control is really burdensome and unresponsive at times. It really is hard to play an RTS without a keyboard.

I will most likely sell this back to gamestop for either Chromehounds or NCAA 07.


This game is not next-gen and you should really save your money unless you are just obsessed with playing an RTS on the XBOX 360. Just being honest.

I agree with the sub-par graphics. I saw and played it at a Mom-and-Pop store and I was totally let down. Oh well...just have to wait for the 18th, which I took leave for so maybe I'll see some you guys on NCAA...

I've read the same thing as well it's the framerate issues that would bug me. I'm seriuosly considering buying the PC version, just need to find a good deal.

THere is a lot of slowdown when a lot of guys are on screen.

However, I have decided to rescind my orginal opinion of the game. The bottomline is that it is pretty fun to play once you over look how unresponsive the controls are and past the slowdown. I would say it is atleast worth a rental from blockbuster or wherever.


Why the change in opinion?

Well I was just fooling around in the campaigns levels today and i just happened to use a spell that i had never tried before. It was the Tom Bombadili spell (hardcored LOTR fans know him all too well).

And so lo and behold Tom Bombaldi appears on the screen as a summon and proceeds to lay the smackdown on all the orcs and trolls and goblins and elephants. During this major *** kicking, Tom was singing a bunch of songs about nature and skipping to his delight and doing spinning shoryukens. Total mark out moment.

The store had it on a flat panel but not necessarily an HDTV. Maybe I'll have to rent it to see it on my own TV.

I read this on another forum about slowdown improvement:

If you can live without health bars, turning them off results in much better performance. You can turn them off in the "Game Settings" options.

Funny, I was just scrolling through the heroes last night thinking there has GOT to be an unlockable Bombadill.

I'm a RTS newb, I haven't played one since Ceaser II back in the day. I like this game alot, but I'm getting my butt kicked in the skirmishes. I agree with EG on the graphics, I also think they look pretty good in hi-def. The sound is really, really great. Lot's of ambience. I likey.

It came in the mail today from Gamefly and this game is awesome. Very addicting, I had trouble going back to work during lunch. Got through the basic tutorial and first level. Pretty nice.

As far as graphics, the game looks very good on my HDTV.

my wonder is that with this game and comand and conquer coming to 360 will we see more RTS games on consoles? perhaps Warhammer or the Total War series?

I think so.

Ensemble Studios is working on an RTS for an unidentified console, which that console is obviously the 360, since Microsoft owns them.

In the same article, Ensemble CEO Tony Goodman revealed that his studio is also working on a PC real-time strategy game for an unidentified console. "We're giving RTS games on the console a shot," he said. "We actually spent a whole year just trying to reconstruct how the controls would work on an RTS game...and we got there. Our gamepad people could beat our mouse people."

If Dawn of War comes to the 360, I may piss my pants. I play tabletop 40k, but the PC version was waaay too much for my crappy setup. This would be great...

Scott, I know you haven't played this game in a few weeks. What is your opinion after spending sometime with it.

I tried the demo and it didn't seem too bad of a game and think that the controls translated well. This week Amazon has the PC version on sale for $35.
