I think you just need a HD hookup then between your 360 and monitor..because lcd monitors are HD right?

Yea you can, Xbox 360 VGA HD/AV Cable

I have it and it works great, picture is HD quality. There is a huge difference to, I had my cousin playing table tennis on my normal TV and me on my 20'' widescreen lcd and it was night and day.

I have the VGA, but don't know what to do with it. There's clearly something missing from my monitor.

if you have old crt monitor, or one that has the vga cable a part of the monitor, then this will not work. You need to plug the vga cable side of the 360 cable to the analog monitor outlet. if the monitor cable cannot be physically removed from the monitor, then you are out of luck.

The only thing that might work, if it exists, is to get a vga type coupling/adapter, which would allow you to connect the vga cable to the monitor cable.

Let me see if i can find something online the would help.

my cpu monitor has no jacks, just a dvi connection and the old vga hook-up

can i still use that, plus how would i get sound

i am a bit confused!!!!

if i plug the one end in to the monitor where does the other end go, plus can i have both the monitor hookup to the cpu and xbox 360

you plug the 360 vga cable to the monitor and the other side to the 360.
Since you have both dvi and analog, you should be able to switch ( by pressing a button or something ) on the monitor to switch between feeds.

Regarding sound, it all depends on how you want to set it up. Easiest bet would be to buy some pc speakers and plug the red and white cables, along with the y-adapter, to the speakers.

There are other ways of setting this up as well.

if you bought the microsoft one it comes with a female gender adapter,TAKE MONITOR cable from the PC,and hook them both together.(vga,and pc mon cable)..you will have to un hook it each time in order to get back to the pc from the 360,and vise versa....i have same thing i use it from time to time when not playing on my TV....It has a dvi and anolgue on back of monitor,but i dont have a dvi card on my pc......but it works great....very crisp picture,and detailed when playing games,if i would have got hip to this months ago i would have saved money on my TVpurchase...and just game on my 17inch samsung lcd monitor looks just as good if not better than my 32inch LCD tv...
