if you bought the microsoft one it comes with a female gender adapter,TAKE MONITOR cable from the PC,and hook them both together.(vga,and pc mon cable)..you will have to un hook it each time in order to get back to the pc from the 360,and vise versa....i have same thing i use it from time to time when not playing on my TV....It has a dvi and anolgue on back of monitor,but i dont have a dvi card on my pc......but it works great....very crisp picture,and detailed when playing games,if i would have got hip to this months ago i would have saved money on my TVpurchase...and just game on my 17inch samsung lcd monitor looks just as good if not better than my 32inch LCD tv...

it took me a little while, but i got used to gaming on my 21 inch CRT...picture's much better than my regular tv, and lets me hold off on kicking out a ton of cash on a HDTV

I agree the crt looks great also...lcd or crt you cant go wrong in my opinion

can someone explain how to hook it up to xbox 360..i looked at one at gamestop but still confused on how we can use it...any on ehave a picture of this vga cable out of the box so i can see what kind of hookups it has

So does the CRT = LCD quality?? I was always wondering that. I might have to go searching for a big one somewhere. What's the biggest CRT they sell now by the way. I saw this dude that looked like he had a 30 inch in college. That was almost 6-years ago too.Very interested in doing this but I'm trying to be wise(r) with my money lately.

when i bought the cables i completely missed the fact that it had the female adapter with it. Even though i dont need it, wouldnt be a bad idea to have around just in case...

its preference...i think they both look good,but if i had to choose it would be LCD.. LCD is brighter to me,but CRT....Looks crisper....if that makes sense?Either way..i like both...both my LCD,CRT....17 INCHES and both samsungs.....

I'd buy a LCD now if i was getting a new monitor...got the CRT as a gift after I graduated college, it's really nice, but would want something with a smaller footprint

So what do you set your 360 display settings to when you have the VGA cables? Is it standard TV but you get higher resolution or can you actually use 720p or even 1080i depending on the maximum resolution of our monitor?

I'll be getting these cables and trying them out on my 17" LG CRT monitor and if it looks real good I'll look for a 19" or 20" LCD this week. It's not nearly as big as my 32" WEGA SDTV but since you sit closer it should do just fine if I can get an HD quality picture without dropping the major $ for an HDTV.

when you connect the vga to the monitor you then have options in the dashboard to select various resolutions...so it's not just standard tv def...

my 19 lcd monitor has 2 hook-ups, dvi and the old vga hookup
can i leave the monitor hooked up through the dvi and use xbox 360 through vga hookup...

without having disconnect the dvi everytime i want to play xbox 360

Yes, as long as your monitor has an input button. Just change the input from the dvi to the vga, and vice versa.

If it doesn't have an input button, you'll probably want to buy a switch unless you wanted to swap the cables out everytime.

Now I have a question. I've got a 34'' Widescreen HDTV Sony, but I also have the VGA cables for my 19'' Dell LCD Ultrasharp monitor. So in anticipation for NCAA I moved my 360 tonight to my computer room. It's not a widescreen, although now I wish it was, I'm still kicking myself in the arse about not buying the widescreen.

My screen resolution right now is 1280 x 1024 I believe. Is that the resolution that works best on the 360 for my 19'' LCD? I want to make sure I'm getting the best picture possible.
