    IGN.com just posted their review of The Orange Box for PS3.



    Seems like EA has managed to absolutely stuff this up for all us PS3 owners. They gave it an 8.4 which seems alright but compared to the 9.5's for the PC and 360 versions it just doesn't hold up.

      I'm playing the hell out of this game on the 360 and love it.

      Reading the ps3 review makes me cringe though. They say the loading is actually worse on the ps3, when it was horrible enough on the 360.

        So, apparently a new patch for TF2 should be coming before Christmas and new maps are in the works.

        I am part of the Xbox 360 development team here at Valve, so Gabe
        forwarded your message to me. I'm very sorry to hear that you feel we
        have "skipped town" and deserted our customers on the 360 - I personally
        visit several Orange Box forums and try to post when I have time, but
        it's clear from your experience that we aren't reaching enough of the
        community. That said, I'd be happy to answer your questions here.

        We do have a new update coming out - in fact, it's going to Microsoft
        for certification today. There's about a 10-14 day certification time,
        so you should be seeing it before Christmas. The update fixes several
        game-play exploits, improves bandwidth usage, improves stats reporting,
        and fixes some menu bugs. Most of the fixes that are in this update are
        in response to forum posts from both the PC and 360, and from direct
        in-game feedback from players. (Yes, we actually have several people who
        regularly play TF2 on the 360 and collect feedback from the players.
        It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.)

        We are currently working on new maps, and we are planning to release
        them as downloadable content for the 360. I don't know what the
        schedule will be for that - new maps will likely be released
        individually on the PC as they're ready, and then we'll offer them as a
        single pack on the 360. We're currently testing a new map that's
        extremely fun, and we can't wait for our customers to try it out.

        We are always interested in what the community has to say, and will
        continue to support TF2 on all platforms. I personally work with the
        360 version on a daily basis, and will continue to do so until we feel
        that the product is the best it can be.

          good to hear, and I as well hope they fix the lag. They said they were going to do it in the last update and it's clear nothing happened. For me, either the game runs perfectly or it's so laggy that I will hit a button and literally see a movement 10 seconds later.

          the new maps should be free or extremely cheap if they want people to continue to play this against COD 4 and Halo 3.

            Well, when I put the game in yesterday (Christmas, the 25th) AN update was available. Is this the update to address lag issues? In TF2 what is the Defend/Attack mode-something like deathmatch or a different type of objective game. Thanks for the link Candyman.

              Defend/Attack mode is where you have certain bases on the map (they are labled A, B, C and D). You have to try and capture them and hold them. You just stand in one for a certain amount of time to capture it. Then once it's captured, you try and keep the other team from getting it back.

              Online is really fun with all the characters. Once you learn how to use them, they are all pretty fun to be.

                I haven't put this in since Tuesday but I want to know if the update does fix the lag. I love playing this game online but sometimes it takes me 30-40 minutes to find a game that's actually playable. It's ridiculous. Like, the menu says the server has a good connection then I get in the game and can't move.

                It's to the point where, if I find a server with a good connection I'll stay there even if the rest of my team sucks. I can't stand playing with idiots, but even more I can't stand not playing at all.

                I really hope Valve fixes these issues, this game still takes more time away from COD4 and Halo 3, but not for long if this sh*t keeps up.

                  Can someone help me with the 3rd room in portal? Mind the Gap? You have to cross from a staired platform to a lift that's on a level not reachable by jumping.

                  Every time I shoot a portal (I have only blue) it takes me back to the start. I've read a couple guides and they say that I'll get over the gaps by shooting a portal and going through it ... yet every time I go through a portal it takes me to the spot where you first come in.

                      My brief 10 minutes online had zero lag. If only I can get away from Halo 3 and learn more about what I'm doing.

                          I finally started messing around with Portal over the Christmas break and wow, what a game. I think I'm on 18 right now. It's refreshing to not be rushed and actually have to think on a video game.

                            I just finished Portal. I had played up until Chamber 15 back when I first got the game and thought it was fun but was never really compelled to get back into it.

                            Holy was I glad I did. The last Chambers are great and the end is incredible. Totally caught me by surprise. Awesome game.

                              Yes Portal is amazing, great puzzle game with incredibly new and refreshing gameplay. Plus that ending is just, well..... You gotta play it.
