Re: Do You Want To Buy A PS3 NOW?
The rumours have resurfaced about the priced drop. Here is another one: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=18546.
MS has denied but I read another article stating that there is no way they would not deny it since it would hurt current sales if people thought a price drop was imminent. Furthermore, the $100 price drop may definately be a possibility for the holiday season to hurt BOTH Sony's PS3 and Nintendo's Wii. However, the $100 price drop may also come with the removal of the component cables and headset in the premium package. The scrapping of the core package is also possible. Since MS is still losing money on the 360 console itself, the cost reduction may simply be to make more money rather than further cut the cost of the console.
More links:
Other people are speculating they will bundle an HDDVD drive with the 360 and keep the price but that makes no sense since that add-on would probably go for at least $300.

Even if I won a lottery, I wouldn't be buying another system for a long while. The 360 will do just fine, than you very much.Comment

Re: Do You Want To Buy A PS3 NOW?
What I've heard is that the add-on HD Drive would retailfor closer to $115. I dont' exactly remember where that was but that would be putting the premium to about $500. If it was at $300, that would seriously be for no purpose. I honestly would consider getting a HD Drive but probably a bit later. One thing I'd not want to do is wear down my 360.
On another note, the only reason I'd get a PS3 is if the import PS2 & PS games were able to be played on it with no problems. Heard that since it's region free, there might be a possibility that all those old games from overseas that never was released in the U.S. might be able to be played on the PS3. That would be hot. Not at all in my wildest dreams worth over $1000 at this point and time. Not to mention that it could possibly break the hell down on a brother and I couldn't just return the sucker.

Re: Do You Want To Buy A PS3 NOW?
Why would anyone get a launch system anyway. You saw what happened with the 360. It could easily happen with the PS3. I'd wait 5-10 months to get the 3. That's what I did with my Xbox 360.Comment

What happened with the 360 launch? A shortage? Well, maybe... but what's the difference. Price isn't going to change a few months after shortage.

All the problems? Bah... there were scattered problems. When any new system arrives, there's always problems and they'll be escalated and complained about and publicized. The internet is for peopel to come and complain... those people are who we heard from. We didn't hear from the 99% that were fine.

For what it's worth, I have a launch 360 without the intercooler and have had no problems to date.
Oh yeah, I'm not getting a PS3. No need for 2 consoles when everything I want to play is on the 360.Comment

Re: Do You Want To Buy A PS3 NOW?
Amen. Same deal here... no probs... maybe we got lucky. I don't know anybody personally that had probs either. I know they happened, and it sucks to be those people, but every launch system is going to have issues. You have that many pieces of hardware and things fail... people set them up differently, etc, etc. The net and forums in particular are a dumping ground for those to air out their dirty laundry. And they have every RIGHT to do so... just that most people that don't have issues aren't on there, they're gaming!!!!!!
