You and I agree on this point. It really makes no sense. It's just a waste of money. If he actually does play all those games, good for him. That's a real collection.

i don't see how someone would have time to play all those games, let alone want to...i understand nostalgia and whatnot, but with what gaming time I do have I'm not about to spend it playing "Smurfs" on the Atari 2600 even though i have that in a box somewhere

It's certainly an impressive collection and without a doubt the biggest I've ever seen. Like others have stated though, when a collection becomes that size I highly doubt he is actually playing any of those games. But IMO there's nothing wrong with that. We're all wired a little differently from one another and we all have our own little quirks. As long as he isn't taking food out of his kid's mouths and supporting his family in the process of putting the collection together that is.
