    Re: DS Game Recommendations

I purchased Elite Beat Agents along with GOW the other day as this game has been on my radar for a long time. It's based on the Japanese game, Ouendin. Ouendin has been imported more than any other DS game I can recall.

This game (EBA) is FLAT OUT ADDICTING. I played this more than I played GOW last night. I never thought a rhythm game would be so much fun, or scream one more game. I played this game from 10-11:30 and had to force my self to shut it off. Played again this morning for ten minutes until I realized I'd be late for work.

Now, I've only heard 2 of the 19 songs, but so far they are quite catchy. I'm sure some of them (there's a Jessica Simpson song mixed in) won't be my cup of tea, but it's all really about getting in that zone. You can be kicking a**, and then just lose concentration. Back to the beginning. But, that's alright. Your goal is to nail the songs and get a better score each time.

The comic story lines are pretty cool and often engaging. I'm not a huge comic book fan, but I find them pretty hilarious. Depending on how you do, the scenes change for the better or worse. I like how there's a little lapse between scenes for you to recover and regain that concentration.

Overall, I'd rank this my favorite DS game. Much moreso than Clubhouse Games, and definitely on par with SMB. This is an excellent touch screen game that makes fantastic use of the stylus.

    100% recommended.

I think we may have more in common than you know dbeth. I majored in math, am left-handed and went to teacher's college although I didn't go on to become a teacher (I think you posted similar things in the past).

        Wow...nice memory Rudy.

Actually, similar with the DS....I don't play it much (even if I have my own) because I'll be playing the XBox (some sports game or Battlefront) and she'll be next to me working on Mario.

She's obsessed now with getting every coin. She's finished EVERY level, but now is going back to get all the star coins. She even checks gamefaqs.com now....I've created a mini-monster!

I say go for it. I just got a DS recently to compliment my 360 and I love it. The DS is the best value in gaming as far as I'm concerned.

I too have a mini-monster. I had to find some Trauma Center help tips for her since she was stuck on one chapter. Mario's on hold right now - she got to world 8 although she bypassed two worlds and plans on finishing it once she's over this obsession with Trauma Center.

Walmart usually has the best regular price on it but if you check the Toys R Us flyers, they often throw in stuff (free case) or a game for only $10 if you buy the system. You get 45 days to exchange the extras (or get the extras) if they offer a better/different deal down the road. They don't price match other stores, just their own offers. The TRU game prices are usually every bit as good as Best Buy as well and often better from my brief experiences.

Honestly, there are so many good games out for the DS. Its an awesome system. I'm just about to pick up Brain Age and Clubhouse Games!!! Can't wait.

I recently picked up a DS Lite with Brain Age and New Super Mario Bros.

Is Mario Kart DS any good? Does it get old after a few races? The reason I ask is because I usually like racing games like RalliSport Challenge. So I wasn't sure if Mario Kart would get old really fast.

What about Super Mario 64 DS?

I haven't played Mario Kart DS yet. Super Mario 64 is the exact same game as it's N64 counterpart, so if you liked that game, you'll like this one.

Another game to try is Animal Crossing...it's surprisingly addictive.

Don't forget Meteos. The most insanely addictive puzzle game you'll ever play, with a TON of replay value.

Clubhouse Games is a no-brainer, too. Forty-two different games on one cartridge, with online play.

I bought my wife Yoshi's Island and Elite Beat Agents for Christmas and am starting to question if I should get a puzzle game like Meteos, Clubhouse Games, Nintendogs or Phoenix Wright over Yoshi instead. My wife does love Mario and I think Elite Beat Agents will be really good too. Too many choices for me to get. Not sure if I should bring Yoshi back or not but I still think she will love that game too.

is that Yoshi game the same one from the SNES? I never could get past some darn monkey swinging level on that game!

                                Rudy:

The beauty of Clubhouse Games is that there's at least four or five games on the cartridge that will appeal to everyone, if not more. If you get sick of a game, you just move to another one.

                                Almost limitless gameplay.
