Re: Xbox 360 TGS press report (1080p coming!)
They won't. I highly doubt we'll see a 1080P game in our lifetimes on the system. Just my opinion. I have no interest in the HD DVD player, and while 1080P is cool, I don't and probably won't have a 1080P capable TV. But this is good news for some I'm sure.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 TGS press report (1080p coming!)
I think its a big step. Also xbox365.com annouced today, that after the showing of blue dragoon and lost odessey, that 70% of the Japanese are getting a 360. Sony is slipping up, even in Japan.
M$ allowing the options to upgrade to HD-DVD and giving us 1080p for free, was a great step forward.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 TGS press report (1080p coming!)
The X360 and the core PS3 are comparable when it comes to 1080p. With the audio/video being handle through components. The premium PS3 will be the only console on the market that will offer True native res 1080p and TrueHD dolby digital via HDMI 1.3.
As I recall from MS and its fans, 1080p is meaningless and no one has the those tv's now EG you were one of the people trumpeting that message you and a host of others. Now its great and some are thinking of getting a 1080p television, how ironic.Comment

What is wrong with people wanting to get a 1080p TV now that they know their 360 is going to actually support that resolution? Being a 360 owner, I could care less about 1080p before the announcement since I don't have any electronics that would support the output. Now knowing that the 360 will be capable of this, I am intrigued but I'm not in the market for another TV. When the time comes to buy another TV, than 1080p will be an option that I'll be looking into.
Suprise #1 is out of the bag by MS, I know from reading on forums and speaking to a MS rep which I see all the time at Best Buy that we will be in for some more surprises with what the 360 can do from now to the 360's B-day.Comment

And Behind the shadows, no one is forcing anything on you and others. You either buy it or you don't. I don't feel put upon with my future purchase of the PS3. I don't think you and the others were planning on purchasing the console anyway. So how are you forced too purchase something, you were never plan on buying?Comment

Re: Xbox 360 TGS press report (1080p coming!)
Backbreaker, I think many weren't looking into the 1080p option for TV's since we haven't had true and accurate information since it's inception. Originally everyone was believed that 1080p could only be achieved through HDMI, but we learned later that it could be achieved through component cables for games and movies, but with a loss of quality.

I'm not talking about this thread, the other dialogue in the PS3 thread. I may have gotten the screen name mixed up, since everytime something was mentioned about the PS3, you and others would come in with opposing views about said features.

I have said things like that in the PS3 thread. But I'm not touting 1080P in there, as I said in this thread, it's not a big deal to me at all either way. For some, I'm sure it is. I could also care less about the HD-DVD player. Again, nothing I want or need at this point.Comment

The PS3 is a launching pad for this new technology, but also is being used as a marketing/advertising weapon against HD-DVD.Comment

Your so busy to defend sony you just assume, that since someone has a negative opinion about them, they never liked them or planned on getting one. Truth is Candyman, Me, and the others are just pointing out a Negative truth about Sony's decision.
Like it or love it, they are messing up, and like Candy said, there are alot of more surprises around the corner for 360. I respect microsoft for their efforts for improvements, not just sitting on their azzes and hoping the M$ name will do all the work for them.
I will be getting a PS3, because I'm a gamer, and thats what gamers do, we buy games and game systems. PS3 will have some exclusives I look forward to playing, regardless of how I feel about the whole situation, my sequels are only on their system. Not saying I will lose any love for my 360, because so far, thats where my heart is at, due to the remarkable games they continue to release weekly.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 TGS press report (1080p coming!)
I wanted to buy a PS3, but after hearing the price of the PS3 due to the BluRay player I decided I'm going to wait till next year. Yes, Sony is forcing the BluRay player down people's throats so they could say they have sold this "X" amount of BluRay players due to the PS3 having them built-in. It's all a marketing ploy by Sony to try and trounce the HD-DVD. When you look at their marketing campaigns, they will only give you 1 combined number (PS3's and Stand Alone players) of BluRay players that were sold so they could make it look like they are ahead of HD-DVD.
The PS3 is a launching pad for this new technology, but also is being used as a marketing/advertising weapon against HD-DVD.
Again, you are not forced to purchase the PS3, their is another option, buy the X360. Candyman, please show me where you are forced? You buy, or you don't buy. Because a company tries to make themselves relevant down the road so they could possibly be financially healthy for years to come. Now you are forced to pay taxes, not a entertainment console. Please let that "forced" argument go because it doesn't apply.Comment

Sony is forcing the Blu Ray on the PS3, but no one is forced to buy the PS3.Comment
