Re: Splinter Cell: Double Agent (360)

Well without going into any details about the plot, I just want to say that I'm very impressed with the single player game so far. The story is much more immersive than other Splinter Cell games this time around due to the two sides of the law that you're trying to please. I think that I've watched too much 24, because I had no problem killing someone in order to keep my cover in tact lol. Jack Bauer would've been proud.

As far as gameplay goes, vets of the series will have no problem jumping right in and getting the hang of the controls. The overall feel of the game is very similar as well. People have complained about the graphics a bit, but I feel that they're quite solid personally. They're nothing mindblowing, but they're on par with most games today.

I'm really digging how this games enviornments seem to vary from map to map. In the other Splinter Cell games it too often felt like the entire game was just one long level. I've gone from prison, to blinding snow, to the Shanghai. It's a nice mix of locales that I hope continues. I'm loving this game so far. I actually called in late today to get some more playing time lol. I should probably leave sometime soon.

The 2nd boat level is a bitch.

I did have alot of fun dumping about 10 bodies from the first boat level overboard into a pile.

I've never played a game like this. When IGN says the single player takes 8-10hours what does that mean? Is that for an expert player, a rookie, just an estimate? I know online play is where its at, but I wouldn't buy the game unless both modes are fun. Can anyone who has played it elaborate. Thanks.

Dang, I didn't know that it only takes 8-10 hours to complete. That sucks...

I still remember cracking out in the orifinal theatre for hours! I hope they bring that back....
If it looks like Chaos Theory, I'd be quite pleased. In my opinion, Chaos Theory was the best looking game on the Xbox and rivals many 360 titles.

            Can't wait to play this.

Apparently there are multiple ways that you can take the character morally, which changes the story arc and ultimately the ending (I think there are 3 possible endings) which might add a little replayability, but I too would prefer it be a little longer the first time around.

So, is it true that there is only the one game mode online? I tried to switch tod different game modes last night, but I didn't see a way too.

Has anybody found out anything conclusive about spy gadgets online. I've seen where they are not there out of the box when playing multiplayer. Do we have to earn (unlock) them through online performance, playing single player, purchase them on the Marketplace, or are we just SOL ????

I know some of you guys say that the online part has grown on you so I might end up getting this any way. It would make my decision alot easier if the gadgets are unlockable through performance upgrades.

I would say 99.9% there are no gadgets online. It's as it is out of the box.

Heh, it wasn't me. I was with ZXLT and RoboCop - I mean, John. Anyway, I think you're referring to Zeppo. As for John, I did let it go in front of me at times to allow him to take the first shots at whatever spy he saw out there. And boy was he ever taking care of business. There were a few times where it left me with nobody to shoot at, heh.

I'll be online later tonight. My connection sucked last night and I was getting really frustrated with being booted out during the middle of games. Hopefully it acts better this time around.

:y4: Yeah, it had to have been Zeppo then, lol. I'm still laughing my *** off about RoboCop John. Guy was sending drones up into the shafts, and it had Zeppo on the run, lol. Every move that he'd make, the drone would corner him. Ended up running him right to JOHN, lol.

I'm thinking this is the best single player SC to date. The story really sucks you in. For those complaining about graphics, I question if you've made it past the first mission, which was mostly dark.
