Re: 3 RED FLASHING LIGHTS?
I did that, but here is what happens. You need to make a claim on your policy - you can either do it online or over the phone. They then send you a shipping label to ship the XBOX back. They then send you a Best Buy gift card when they receive the 360. You can use the gift card for anything, you don't need to buy another 360.
Now, I think it's a major pain in the behind. I would have rather just taken it back to the store and picked up a new one. Now I need to wait 5-7 days for the label, then the time it takes to ship it there, then for the gift card to arrive. It will probably be about 3-4 weeks before I'm actually playing again. Major inconvenience if you ask me.
On the other hand, if you have had it with the 360, you get your money back - or at least your Best Buy money back...MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies

Re: 3 RED FLASHING LIGHTS?
I've bought many consoles at BB and their extended warranties. I returned four original PS2's, one slim PS2, two Xbox's and I always got an exchange right at the store.I did that, but here is what happens. My experience with Best Buy extended warranties have been rather painless.Comment

Re: 3 RED FLASHING LIGHTS?
Depends on the store manager. I had a PS2 from Best Buy and the store nearest my house made me do what that guy said above. I complained, then went to another Best Buy who let me do the exchange right there. That is one of the many reasons I rarely shop there.Comment

Re: 3 RED FLASHING LIGHTS?
I must be lucky then. For a longtime my BB even let me return several defective systems all within the 2 year warranty without even having to buy another extended warranty.Comment

Maybe I'll give that a shot. I'll just call a few around me and see if any tell me I can just bring it in...MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies

Re: 3 RED FLASHING LIGHTS?
Raise Hell, that's what I did. Just go to another one and don't call. Go there and get very loud if they don't take the return. Tell them you bought the warranty, were told you could exchange at the store.
I got very loud, and was telling anyone within listening distance about how bad Best Buy's ****ty warranties were.
I then got my exchange

Re: 3 RED FLASHING LIGHTS?
Just wanted to add about Best Buy...I had the Red lights of Death last night. I brought it back (I bought the replacement plan for $50--2yrs). They sent me to the Geek squad desk and I told him the situation and he immediately got me a new 360. I did have to pay for another replacement plan, but it was better than having a useless machine that I bought last June. No hassles, no problems. I recommend the replacement plan to anyone.
FYI--You don't have to buy a new replacement plan if you return it within 90 days; it's only after the ms' warranty would end.Formerly Favre4vrComment

Re: 3 RED FLASHING LIGHTS?
This is why I am renting one now, that and the fact that I'm waiting to see what the PS3 is like. After I rent them both, I'll decide which one I want down the line. I don't want to have to go through all the defects and trying to replace either system and spending mega amounts of money on one system alone. If I grow tired of it, or they become defective during my lease and I don't want it, I can take it back and get my $100 security deposit back. I paid a little more overall for the package, but I get 3 years where if anything goes wrong with it, all I have to do is take it back and they replace it for free. No questions asked.Last edited by highheatkingsb; 10-22-2006, 03:25 PM.Highheat's O's Franchise
