        Re: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

I've said this before, but this game is a Marvel nerd's wet dream, BY FAR the best game I've ever played. The controls are pretty repetitive, but the visual satisfaction is rediculous. Mike Zeck's Secret Wars interpretation of Doom's costume? Moon Knight sending shout outs to Kon Shu? Deadpool introducing himself to Jarvis as Thor? Priceless.

Never had a game where the third playthrough is just as fun as the first...As long as they keep giving us DL content, I will happily buy. Heck, I just realized you could roll with empty slots. I'm going to see how far I can get with just Iron Man and Cap. Or maybe Hulk and Thing. Wolvie and Sabertooth? Or DD and Electra...decisions, decisions.

BTW, won't give any spoilers...but the Doom/Doom confrontation was very well written, and made perfect sense.

Dungeon crawlers/action rpgs like this are my favorite types of games. Me and my friends get together with these type of games and waste nights at a time playing. One time we actually stayed up so long wired on tootsie rolls that we couldn't stop laughing at everything said even if it wasn't funny.

I just picked up this game on a whim for the PS2, but there was no instruction booklet that came with the game. Can anybody give me a quick synopsis of what I should be doing to build up may characters abilities?

Should I be switching guys in and out or stick with the same characters throughout. I am still in chapter one, I destroyed the missile.

Is there a way for me to download the extra characters that you are getting on X-Box live?

Every hero gains experience and levels as your current team does.

It's a shame he wasn't in this one. He was awesome to use in X-Men Legends II.

So I am better trying to keep my team to the same 4 players throughout? That way I get 4 very strong characters instead of many characters with some experience?

Do the characters automatically obtain new skills when they get enough experience or is there something I need to do in the character setup.

Thanks for the help. I have a PS2 version, but no instruction manual.

Killing enemies using specific characters unlocks their alt unis. Other than that, everyone levels up together...so if you use the same 4, and they end up at level 40, everyone on the roster will be level 40, but only the guys you used will have more than one outfit.

You can upgrade your "powers" in the menu, but some of those won't be available off rip...some have level requirements, IE some are locked until you get to say level 17.

As you level up you either pay for increases to those powers through those coins you are collecting, and sometimes you get free-ish power (upgrades valued at one or two points) so again, everyone will be on the same level as you go along. Bottom line, use whoever you want...they will all get better at the exactly same pace, so feel free to change up suads at will.

One thing I do suggest...some skills are more useful than others. At the bottom of the skill menu is a colored bar, that defaults at yellow and says "auto-spending points", which means the CPU is auto leveling up skills. You may want to go through the roster and set that to manual (y button, I think, and you have to do it for each character) That way you can choose to max out the more useful powers faster.

Same thing with their gear. The CPU makes terrible decisions with the items...
