Gears of War has been hyped since the release of the Xbox 360, therefore, I don't think it qualifies as a sleeper hit if it sells well.

"In addition characters seem to have a greater damage threshold than in many fps games. Unlike alot of fps like COD2 in my opinion where its more just a game of "who fires first wins" GOW makes strategy such as positioning actually play a factor. It makes the matches somewhat longer than they would be typically, in a good way.
On to the weapons, like I stated above characters take alot more shots than on your everyday shooter"
For me who is more of an occasional online player this is particularly good. Too often on GRAW, Battlefield 2, and other types of shooters its too much about who shoots first. Heck for me alot of times I will have the drop on somebody, start shooting them and still get fragged! I know I would get alot better with a lot more time invested but for someone like me who plays sporadically, GOW seems like it will offer me more of a chance to be competitive if I am smart with utilizing cover, communicating with teammates etc.
R6 Vegas looks great but definitely more "typical" in terms of playing style to other shooters and would probably require alot of time to get my stick skills up to have any chance to be good at itDr. MeadowsComment

After playing GOW & seeing how beautiful & butter smooth it is, I'm definitely excited about "Emergence Day". Haven't played the R6 Demo yet. Will download-it tonight & give it a shot.Comment

Actually, for the reasons you just stated I'm leaning more towards Rainbow 6 now. I hated how in Halo I could shoot someone in the face with a shotgun and they would jump away.
And the Rainbow 6 games are incredibly easy to learn. Trust me.Comment
