Me too, died before NBA 2k7, right at tipoff. Now it keeps freezing at the dashboard after about a 2 minutes. What I did was hurry up and copy saves over to a mem card.

Mine's under warranty though, so it's going back prepaid UPS on MOnday. Hope it won't be too long.

You might be better served to call MS and see what they will do.

For a broken one? Nothing. Just call up Mircosoft and get them to fix it for free. If they resist, play it up and tell them you camped out overnight to get this thing on launch (even if you didn't) and have been a loyal Microsoft customer for years. If all else fails, tell them you'll never buy another Microsoft console and get a PS3 instead. I don't think you'll have to go through that much trouble but they will definitly fix it for free.

Last time Im saying it, but call Microsoft while they're honoring all the systems that were bought at launch or shortly after. Otherwise you'll be paying $150 for them to repair it if you wait too long.

For those that went through this process, how long did it take? With standard shipping both ways, I am assuming ~ 3-4 weeks without my 360. Is that a good estimate?

Not a good time for this to happen with all of the good games coming out/about to come out
I shipped my system back to Microsoft on Oct. 19 through UPS (5-day price) and will be getting it back on Oct. 31.

My system was manufactured in December '05. I haven't seen the rings of death, but I've had enough freezes where I figured I'd better get the console fixed before it dies on me and I'm stuck with the repair cost.

For those who have had their 360 repaired by Microsoft: Have you still been experiencing game freezes or DREs, or does it run smoothly?
