no offense intended, but it sounds like you need to wait on buying a 360 IMO. It sounds like you are having money issues or no money issues. I think I would stick with your PS2 until your are better off money wise or maybe you can hit your parents up for a 360 for Christmas.

I would be worried about getting a car and a job before buying a 360 if I were you. It's a good system, but not worth spending all your money on. There are plenty of good PS2 games out there to keep you busy for a while. Save your money, pick up NBA 2k7, Bully, and The Show for PS2 and don't worry about next gen yet. The games will just keep getting better for the 360 and when you can afford it, it will be there and probably a better investment.

We are fine money wise (by that we can pay bills and have money left over after the month and sometimes spend money on something $100+) and without going totally off-topic, we have been without a car for over a year or two and have a bus system so although a car would be great, money wise even if I put this towards a car there is no way on earth I would have enough for insurance, gas, etc...feasibly I may not have a car years from now and she may not have one even a year or two for now. Hitting up parents by the way is not an option, in short. I appreciate your concern though.

I'm still not 100% sure if I will get a 360 though I appreciate the responses and insight so far. Thanks everyone.

A man should always have, at least, $1000 on hand at all times for emergencies. I prefer to say $2000 at all times, but sometimes that's not possible. If you've got $100 left at the end of the month it needs to go in the bank. A 360 shouldn't even be considered. Now I'll get off my soap box. btw, your girl would probably not like you spending the cash on a 360 either.

No we have several hundred left after the month, I was saying without being worried about money we can sometimes spend $100+ on items such as a new microwave and such. We live in an apartment, not a house so we have a comfortable amount money wise and have emergency money already.

I have a 19 inch TV in my room and my PC monitor is only 17 inches and the main TV is 30 inches. Why would I use my PC monitor, would it just be good for using that instead of the 19 inch or do you mean it would look even better than the 32 inch TV? I can wait on that either way.

you will get HD graphics on your PC monitor... unless size matters to u... i went from a 27 inch TV in my room (non hd) to my small 15 inch monitor and the difference was worth the sacrafice in size. I kick myself everyday for not doing it sooner... it's a SUPER cheap way to get HD graphics..

My monitor is years old though, I'm talking 7-8, but that would great if it could still do that. But for $40 I wouldn't get it right away.

if you can get your monitor to do 1280 X 1024 or 1280 X 720 (adjust monitor to make it widescreen) then you're good to go... i've had my monitor since fall 2001

Yea VGA cables are definately the way to go. I got my 360 last week with many debates just like you. The only game I got was NBA 2k7 though. I recommend that you get XBox Live Gold as well and check out some of the demos. There's a Madden 07 demo on Xbox Marketplace that you can download (for free) and try it out. Unfortunately it's only 4 2-minute quarters with the Seahawks and Steelers. I think I might pass on Madden this year judging on reviews and such.

I got the VGA cables about 3-4 days after I got my 360 and it makes a whole lot of difference. The monitor I'm using is probably about 3-5 years old. It's a 22 inch CRT though and it looks great.

One of the best parts of the XBox 360 is Xbox Live. You can go on and download demos, movies, trailers, add-ons and patches for games you own. There's also a slew of old arcade games from Tetris to Mortal Kombat to Uno that you can download and even play online. They aren't free though, they cost MS Points. Unfortunately, you have to buy those. They aren't that expensive, about $13 for 1000 of them. Arcade games cost like 800 or so. You can also download themse (for MS Points) for your 360 which is the equivalent to wall papers and desktop skins on your PC.

As everyone said previously though, make sure you get a warranty. Between that and accessories, I spent a little over $600 on mine all in one day.

You can download demos and arcade games and stuff with just XBOX Live Silver (it's free). You only need XBOX Live Gold if you want to play online.

I saw that, but I could get that and a game for the same price. :-/

As for XBOX Live, I would get gold a month or two afterwards. Silver with demo's to download could hold me over.

Thanks for the help, I went ahead and bought it.

Got the 360 Premium, Charge N Play, Madden, RF Adapter and extra wireless controller all for just $481.72, got 2 day shipping so it should be here in a few days.
