Re: Zelda on Wii..just two weeks away
Every Link is different. In other words, the Link in the original Zelda is different from the one in A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, etc. The only exception I know of is that the Link in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask is the same but I'm not positive as I never played Majora's Mask. This new Link is likely a different Link as well (though really, they all look the same, act the same, fight the same so it's just an excuse to ignore continuity on Nintendo's part).Comment

I guess the aura of Link is that Nintendo has always kept the character, story, and atmosphere rather fresh with each release even though the story has been the same for the most part.Comment

Re: Zelda on Wii..just two weeks away
You know I had originally planned to get an Xbox 360 (which I did) and a PS3 but after seeing the PS3's high price and the fact that most of their games are the same ones I already own on the 360 i decided to pass (for awhile anyways) on the PS3. I hadn't really considered the Wii at all because Nintendo seems like they're so much for kids and the name is pretty stupid but recently I was bored and watched some videos of this game and I kinda had this flashback to "wow I remember how much fun I had with Nintendo when I was a kid".
Now i'm actually thinking of buying a Wii and this game. The only thing that would 100% seal the deal is hearing they're bringing Kid Icarus back in full glorious 3D. Then i'd have to be like Cartman in freeze myself in the middle of nowhere to pass the time more quickly.
P.S. - Note to Nintendo - Make some of the classics like Metroid in 2D....Metroid in 3D just ain't Metroid!!Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Zelda on Wii..just two weeks away
I wasn't looking at the Wii until I knew Zelda was going to launch. Initially I was planning on picking up a GC just for Twilight Princess, but then it became the cornerstone Wii launch title and I just had to have it. I'm hoping there's more than one Mario platformer for this system because, as of yet, Mario Galaxy hasn't really grabbed me. Hopefully there is a Donkey Kong platformer too.

Re: Zelda on Wii..just two weeks away
The game is awesome. I got to play through a temple and boss and also try the fishing.
It's so cool to be able to run around with the (very light and comfortable) nunchuck analog stick while simply slashing with your right hand, wiimote. The remote (also very light in weight) controls the basic sword swings while a quick shake of the nunchuck executes the spinning sword attack, good when you're surrounded.
The aiming with the bow and arrow definitely took time to get used to, but once you do, you'll love it.
The dpad on the remote controls the simple item/weapon selection. During one puzzle I had to stomp on a block to activate a door but I could only force it down by wearing the steel boots, so I just hit down on the dpad to instantly wear them. The controls are cool. So much better than I expected.
I only got to try a handfull of games, but already there are a number of genres I could never go back to playing with regular controllers. No matter how good the graphics were. The controller will certainly change gaming in a big way.
The graphic style is very similar to OOT. Like a beefed up version. You'll definitely notice the washed out textures and jaggies (no Anti-aliasing at all by the looks of it) but the visuals are still very solid and impressive. The fire boss was particularly awesome. Nice textures and lighting for sure.Comment
