It definitely does not seem like a 12-15 hour game. I'm not sure I'm the best at the game so maybe someone could be alot further than I am at this point but at my own rate I could see this being a 40-50 hour game. I haven't even scratched the surface of the "prized pinatas" and there's still a TON of things in the shop that are opening up constantly that I cannot afford.

And although I can't say it with authority, I am pretty sure that this is completely open ended and it won't "cut off" as it seems to be more of a sandbox game than a goal-oriented game. Which is right down my alley because that's one thing I dislike about a lot of modern games is that they are so goal-oriented instead of allowing the user to experiment and just enjoy themselves.

I would think that this game has objectives to accomplish, but I would also think in a sense that it could be open ended since everytime you create new Pinata's the experience will be different.

Man you ain't kiddin, I never even had a chance to play Gears last night and I only quit because I simply could not stay awake any longer. You know when you're still playing and can barely stay awake, your beer bottle is empty for the last hour because you don't want to stop to go get another, you're dying of thirst and gotta pee but don't want to head to the bathroom, yet you still play on, that the game is 0wning you...

Yeah that's right, it's kinda like GTA in that sense, you can do your own thing and ignore alot of the objectives or you can simply play from point A objective to point B objective, etc. I play kinda 60% sandbox-do-whatever-I-want and 40% complete-next objective.

Also, for those of you who get it and find that some tasks, such as watering plants, are tedious, at some point in the game, my 5 hour mark, it may be your 3 hour mark if you are better than me, you get the chance to hire people to do that for you.

Dude just do like me, walk into EBGames, and say in a real loud voice "I'M HERE TO GET VIVA PINATA" and then just glare at everyone like you're daring them to laugh. By being so bold no one will challenge you, in fact they'll look away but in their mind be thinking how respectful they are of you that you could be so bold.

Just picked it up and am about to play. I wasn't going to but I was in the store and they had a couple copies on the counter that they were gutting to put on shelf. So I cleared my throat and said in a low unassuming way "Go ahead and give me a copy of that"

College Hoops 2K7 and Vegas are the last 2 I really want but they will probably have to wait as X-Mas is too close and I have to get a Wii.

That damn Wii is stopping me from getting VIVA Pinata.

It also has a 1-4 player "Family" mode. I might wait till my girls get home and play it together with them.

I think you're going to be very, very happy with your purchase. And btw, don't let the early voiceover tutorials make you think, why did i buy this kids game?, as they did me....you will see once you get going after about an hour or so, that it's very much a game an adult can enjoy immensely.

And on a side note, i'm not sure how much a kid could really play this, well not a younger kid anyways, because there are certain things you must do or your pinatas simply die and/or leave. A kid just randomly going around clicking on things and meandering about would not yield much success I don't believe.
