i exchanged mine at Gamestop today.. thankfully the new one (which has a "made" date of two months ago) seems to be running very well - almost better than my old one.. the Gamestop warantee seemed to be the easier route than going through Microsoft - just had to bring in the paper & old receipt & bingo...

yeah i picked mine up from target and they didn't have a warranty so I had to go with MS's warranty. That box can't get here soon enough.

are these same updates that have caused the problems still in the stream or have they removed them and replaced with correct ones?

You can only use it once and then have to buy a new warranty. That is bs if you ask me. I wish I would of got Microsofts warranty in the efrist place. I bought one from Corcuit City and thought I could return in the store. Nope had to send it in. Took about three weeks and just recieved my Gift certificate today. Went there and got a new one. THe date is 8-22-06 and it seems to run better/more quiet than the one before. IT also only has two prongs on the power cord. IS there a reason why they changed that? I am going to go ahead and get the Microsoft warranty.
