Re: ps3 impressions
I'm far from a fan boy, but I just don't feel the buzz like I did last year when the 360 came out. -

Re: ps3 impressions
*ATTENTION* all HDTV CRT Owners...Can you please confirm some info.. Again this specifically for CRT Owners.
IGN has updated there FAQ in reference to CRT HDTV Owners whose display only accepts 480p/1080i. They are saying that if your CRT display on accepts the above resolution all 720p games no matter if you set your PS3 to 1080i in the dash, will down-scale to 480p, because the PS3 DOES-NOT have a scaler.
Can you please confirm this. This may not be an issue for many, but for those who have DIRECT-VIEW CRT this may be a BIG-PROBLEM. What makes this even worse is your BLU-RAY Movie watching also gets down-scaled to 480p..
Owners should check their TV Manuals to see if their set ACCEPTS 720P... Good Luck to all those who braved the Weather Elements Last NightComment

Re: ps3 impressions
Waited with my cousin last night for 12 hours (he was there before me). he got his ps3, resistence and cod3.
I am not impressed, at all. I must say, COD3 is a level DOWN from the 360, easily. I didnt play much, had to go to school, but really not blown away at all. He was pretty upset as well.Comment

Re: PS3 Impressions
Don't know if this belongs here if not delete it EG.
Warranty for the PS3 is a full year from Sony.
Ken: Hi, Can you please look in the instruction manual and let us know what the standard warranty length is for the Playstation 3 is? Is it 1 year like the PSP or 3 months like the Xbox 360. Thanks in advance.
IGN: The warranty info that came with our retail unit states the PS3 hardware is guaranteed against mechanical defects for one year. So yeah, not too shabby.Last edited by Rodster; 11-17-2006, 12:27 PM.Comment

Re: ps3 impressions
Unfortunately some CRT's don't accept 720P. If it doesn't accept 720p it will not show on the set @ all. Meaning if a PS3 Game is developed in 720p, even if your PS3 is set to 1080I, the PS3 will actually read the game as 720p. It then will send that 720p signal to your set. When the PS3 realizes your set doesn't accept 720p, it automatically sets itself to 480p.
Hope this was helpful
BTW, the BLU-RAY Playback is not affected by this. It's only games.Comment
