    That's $700
    If you already have a wireless bridge or are connected to a network then that extra 100 is a moot point.

    But yeah, the extra space and memory card reader are pretty niffty to have.

      It only took up 17.75 gigs...not the 22+ they were talking about:

      "Resistance = 17.75GB of garbage"

      If GOW could fit on one DVD-9, then my opinion is that the devs for Resistance did a poor job with their compression (as mentioned by Slayer in that link), vs. this being something indicative of "needing" more disk space, judging by the quality of both titles.

      I think the whole BluRay thing as it relates to gaming is a smoke screen for justifying putting it in, and unless I read about several nuetral (multi-platform) devs complaining that its a severe limitation for the 360, I just don't buy it as being a factor.

      Worse case scenario is multidisk gaming, and I really don't think the 15 seconds it'll take to swap a disk is a big deal...but I guess it is a major hassle to some. To each his own, though. Rodster made a great point in the other thread...PS3 folks get no controller rumble...360 folks have to swap disks. Both are really minor things to worry about. There are quite a few *little* tradeoffs between these two systems.

        Being able to put games on DVD's wasn't a big deal either when the PS2 was released but by the end of the PS2's life cycle virtually all games were on DVD's as opposed to cd's.

        Blu-ray may not be an advantage for games now, but to say that it won't ever be an advantage is really reaching given the history of console gaming. Every single generation of consoles has seen a better format and now all of the sudden Microsoft feels like there's no need for an upgrade this generation? Sorry, I don't buy it.

            It is amazing to me how much a great sports game can sell a system to the video sports gamer. I have a PS2 (re-purchased) for MLB the Show, XBox (re-purchased) for NFL2K5, and a 360 for NBA 2K7 and because I needed a new toy As much as I love my 360, it will probably be on eBay the day I get my hands on a PS3 and this is coming from a pro Microsoft guy.

            It is a shame that I need 3 systems in order to play the 3 best sports titles (thanks EA and the NFL for starting this mess) and with a PS3, I can have them all with one system AND a Blu-Ray player.

            The biggest advantage the XBox has is still XBox live. Since I only play sports games, gaming online has been dead to me since basketball, baseball, and EA football games are a cheese fest online and I have no need for online play anymore. NFL 2K5 consumed about 99.9% of my online gaming and since I played it so much, the thrill is gone.

            My three favorite sports games on 1 system + a Blu-Ray player = $200.00 well spent for me. Just my 2 cents.

              There were many that repurchased a PS2 earlier in the Spring for MLB'06:Show. I had sold my Fatty PS2 a week before the Show came out on ebay to buy a slim so I didn't get anymore of the freezing or locking up like last year with MLB2006. It is true, one game alone can sell a system.

                I'm in the same boat as you, in many ways. IMO, those are the 3 best sports games. And that's the main attraction of the PS3 for me...

                1. the backwards compatability of NFL 2k5 (and a few other PS2 exclusives I still enjoy);

                2. the fact that any sports game you can get on 360 you can also get on Ps3 (whereas the opposite is not true), especially NBA 2K series;

                3. PS3 exclusive titles forthcoming...especially the Show 07.

                I could care less about blueray. Can I pop in a plain ol' DVD into the Ps3 and watch it? If so, then I'm good. In my mind, I'm paying an extra $200 for option 1-3 listed above. The blueray is just an asterisk (for now) in the equation.

                  The BluRay is an addition to the PS3 that I'll never use for movies. I even have Tallajeda(sp) Nights on BR which I haven't checked out yet.

                    I dont remember what page I read it on but someone said that they don't use there gaming console for there DVD player. I was the same way, I was using my 360 just for games affraid it would die on me from over use. Then I figured I would just give it a try, I removed my stand alone DVD player, purchased MS HD-DVD add-on. MS REALLY wants the 360 to be the center of a house's entertainment center, so I will test it out. I will continue to make sure the system is well ventalated and try to keep it cool. I do have a 1 year warranty on the system (until 10-17-07) by them we should be seeing the new processors in the system and if I need to I can throw the stand alone DVD player back in. If they are gonna market this thing as being more than just a gaming console, test them on it.

                      I was one of those people.

                      Does the system run hot with the HD-DVD player running?
