Re: Xbox 360 vs. PS3
What I meant by that remark is that some of the developers already knew of the 360 design specs well before the 360 launch. Some of them were well into the design of their games, i.e. Rare, Bethseda, Cliffy B. etc.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 vs. PS3
Can't understand why people would want to shell out $200 extra for the same graphical output as the XBOX360. Then again, Gamespot used more than one EA game, and we all know EA is the KING OF PORTS.
Developers had a year extra to optimize the games that came out on 360 to utilize the hardware on PS3 if possible and they didnt.
For a 1 year newer system that costs more, the PS3 should look a lot better than the 360, which isn't quite the case. I mean, is the average consumer, who, say, only cares about Madden or Call of Duty, going to begin to wonder why two thirds of the PS3 lineup for this year is also on the far cheaper XBOX360 - and it looks just as good on there?
That generation argument won't work. You have to compare games that are cross-platform in these kinds of comparisons, and because of the 360's early launch, all cross-platform games will be a generation apart. You'll wait for Call of Duty 4 (or whatever) to compare it as a second generation game and you'll have Call of Duty 4 as an X360 3rd generation game.
I don't really see anything wrong with the PS3 versions, with the exception of FNR3 they have the same amount of geometric details, but the textures are awful, they are blurry and without definition. The system with the better architecture for games and the better GPU will always win the graphics battle every time, no matter what numbers people throw out.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 vs. PS3
I had / have both systems in question, so obviously I dont have an agenda to bash one.
However, the PS3 has done nothing that the 360 isnt already doing. I dont try to compare something like Gears to Resistance etc... Just comparing launch title by launch title, it is clear the 360 is better.
Both systems are so close in specs that you arent going to see a major difference between the 2 consoles. Its all about what the developers try to do.
Previous generations it was about exclusive titles. More and more we are seeing games go multiplatform with very few exclusives on each system.
I dont mind paying 250 for a Wii so I can get my Mario, Zelda, Metroid games....but paying 600 for a few exclusive titles is a harder sell.
For the most part, every game that will be on the ps3 will be on the xbox as well and vice versa.
The 360 has the clear advantage with its online strategy and implementation and it doesnt force a next gen dvd drive on you for a premium price. The difference between blu ray and HD-DVD is hardly noticable and there is no certain future for either format. Time will tell that. At least with the 360 they make their dvd drive an addon so its not tagged into the console price.
So far. to me...the 360 is the clear winner now. If ps3 lowers its price point, improves its online interface, and gets more than 1-2 exclusives that people would want, then maybe it would compete. But as things stand now, after the initial hysteria that revolved around its release....its been lukewarm at best.Comment

I won't disagree that if you have a 360 there really is no reason to have a PS3 unless you want exclusives. If your a hardcore gamer than you will own both + the Wii.
I still do feel like the Blu Ray drive should have never been implemented into the PS3, but whatever floats Sonys boat.
