They can make him pay for them if he chooses to keep them. They would probably send him two mailers so that he can send them back without cost to himself. If he chose not to they could go after him. Nothing is free.

especially if he has his credit card linked to his xbl account. that said, I doubt MS ever realizes the screwup.

Crazy.

Reminds me when I first got Directv, which was about 7 years ago. I want to say it was around $200 bucks at the time.

It was late at night right befor closing. So I go into Circuit City, get Directv and the guy was going to ring me up, but said that register was already shut down and told some other girl to ring me up. She does, doesn't ask for the money (not sure what she was doing) bags it up and im on my way.

I get to the car, guilt starts to creep in, im still sitting there, the store is now closed...I get out of my car and tell them whathappened and went ahead and paid.

I felt too bad to keep the money.

Unless he signed to recieve both...there's nothing they can do.

He can simply say he never recieved the second one. If they say they sent it...he can say it must have got lost.

Considering how many people M$ has ripped off down the years...good luck to him.

If he needs money, sell it.

If he doesn't, give it to a friend someone who can't afford one

That's crazy... but... like others, if he has a credit card on file and they track it down as being delivered to his home, can't they just charge his card for it? As crazy as that may sound... he agreed to the repairs, they accidentally sent more than one system and can track it, with proof HE rec'd and signed for them... meaning they can charge him until they get them back..

They can not just charge his credit card with out notifing him of a pending charge unless item or items are returned. Also if he never signed for them, specifically his signature, since it is HIS credit card they have on file they are SOL. They would be better off finding the person or persons responsable for the mishap and charging them.

If he didnt have one and they somehow sent him one..I'd keep it. But since he haa one...I'd donate it somewhere. An underpriviliged child would be a bad choice because they wouldnt be able to afford any games, accessories, etc., but I'd donate it to a raffle or something where all proceeds went to underpriviliged children.

Just my 2 cents.

The M$ guy will likely say "hey, keep it...odds of your new one breaking and us having to send you a new one anyway = greater than the bother of us getting you to send it back"...

Maybe it's a new policy...they send two to everyone, saving all the customer service calls when machine 1 breaks. People simply use machine 2.

Of course I'm joking...

Though having read that guys like Will are on machine number 3 or something, I'm not so sure if I am joking...

Yeah, I would send them back. I don't want to walk around thinking I could be charged for those later. I believe in karma.

I still feel guilty for not paying for a $3 Frank Thomas card back in '94.

They still have it on file somewhere that two extra machines were sent to his house, so they know he has them. Just because something is mistakenly mailed to you does not legally make it yours. Just like if a bank accidentally deposits more money into your account that it is supposed to, it is not legally yours. If this person chose to sell them and Microsoft found out the consoles were mistakenly shipped to him and refused to pay for them, he could be arrested.

Don't send them back at all. MS couldn't care less if they lost two 360 consoles and I guarantee you they will never even find out. Give them as gifts to people you know would like to have one but cannot afford one. Just allow someone else to have a great Christmas, screw MS they do not need to get them back at all. If this was a widespread problem with MS that would be different, but this sounds like one or two isolated incidents. Trust me on this, a corporation as large as MS will not realize that 3 consoles went to the same address, and if by some miracle they did stumble upon it, they would never waste their time trying to get just 2 back. Seriously your in no danger of being charged or anything. Again just give someone close to you or someone less fortunate a merry Christmas.
