I believe there is a Federal law that states if someone recieves something in the mail they did not order then it's theirs to keep. Agreed though, the right thing to do would be to notify MS. By law though I don't believe he is obligated to do that. Check this site.

I know that there are companies that call around and try to get people to order seemingly mundane supplies (like lightbulbs or printer cartridges) and then bill your company for an insane amount of money. This probably protects people from just being "drop shipped" and then leaving the customer responsible for the bill.Comment

Re: So the strangest thing happened to my friend
I have to say that I'm a little surprised at the number of people that would keep or sell the extra systems. I was brought up to believe you don't keep things that don't belong to you and I'm trying to instill this value into my children as well. I'm not sure if this is purely an anti-MicroSoft sentiment or just a sign of the times.
Not trying to judge what anyone else thinks or does, because everybody has to do what they believe is the right thing. I'm just saying that there's no way that I could keep or sell something that I didn't rightfully pay for.Comment

Nice, I would just wait a month or two before doing anything just incase they come back for their systems.Comment

Re: So the strangest thing happened to my friend
lets say he calls MS and tells them and they say just keep them, is it alright to sell or give one away then? By the way good point opd897, if you had to pay for something that got shipped to you even if you did not order it, companies would ship junk out on purpose all the time and you would have to pay for it. It makes no senseLast edited by LionsFan20; 12-24-2006, 02:37 PM.

Its all good, i would give them as gifts. I always gave my systems that I don't use to poor families in the US and the Philippines.Comment

I wouldn't be surprised if this is truly the case...reason being that unscrupulous companies could just ship things out and then send you a bill.
