I still don't understand why they opened it. If I bought a game and they tried to open it, I would smack the guy or at least demand my money back and walk out. I've never witnessed anything like that.

.
Jpup, money wasn't even exchanged yet which was weird. it was kind of like, "oh well, youre loss.. now you really have to pass that off as USED" which seemed to piss the clerk off quite a bit. Redemption served just alittle bit

Re: Is this some New Gamestop policy???
I never and will never buy a gutted game. I also won't buy a game that looks like it's been opened and re-sealed. To me, it's used. I worked at a Gamestop once, we played the gutted games, they were in the demo units, to me, that's a used game. Unless they give me used game prices, I won't buy it, and I've made that clear every single time they try to sell me one, and trust me, I'm not quiet about it.Comment

Re: Is this some New Gamestop policy???
I myselft work at EB Games. The games that are "gut" copies have never been played. They are just taken out of the case so that we can display them out on the floor. We certainly cannot put live product on the floor.
Ruben, these workers your mom dealt with must have no idea what they are doing or are complete idiots. They should have put a seal sticker on it and allowed you to return it as long as the seal in unbroken. But its not their fault that the game had to be taken out of the case. It is the company's fault. The employee has no other choice.Comment

So, you get Madden 07 in and have a 360 demo, how do you show off Madden, or do you wait for the used one to come in?
If the game has been opened by anyone BUT me, it's used. End of story.Comment

Maybe your store, but every EB/GS I've ever been at, the games that are in the systems are the gut copies unless there's a used one.

I do understand where you are coming from though. But like I said you shouldn't get upset at the employee, because he/she has no controller over whether the game gets gutted or not. Unless of course, they decline to allow you to return it as in Ruben's case.Comment

Re: Is this some New Gamestop policy???
All of our systems have demos from the companys themselves. Our 360 has a demo in it, as does our PS3 and Wii. At my old store we only put used games in the systems.

And they were full versions.Comment

Re: Is this some New Gamestop policy???
But I do know that at my store we never put full games in the systems. It may be different at the stores you visit, in which case I understand completely.
But when you refuse to buy a gutted game, I don't think its fair to blame the employee. They have no control over the game being gutted. Gamestop makes us gut the games in order to display them on the shelves.
When people tell me they do not want to buy a gutted game, I completely understand. But what I don't understand is why the become so upset about the situation and yell at me. I have no control over the situation, and I cannot change the price of the game to sell it at a used price.Comment

At my old store, where I worked during Madden launch, we had 06 in the systems. Like you said, it may just be my store. As I have no clue as to what happens at other stores.

Re: Is this some New Gamestop policy???
Yeah, I get that. But when people are spending $60 on a game, they would like to open for the first time themselves. So that's where the annoyance comes in. I just go to CC or Target and get the game where I know it's never been opened. I rarely shop at the game stores any more, they just don't have any deals or reason for me to shop there. Sucks, but that's what's happened.Comment

Re: Is this some New Gamestop policy???
What happened to Ruebens Mom was an insult because she walked up with the game case she got from the shelf. The EB employee grabs a new unopened copy and right in front of her takes it out of the wrapper then tells her she can't return it because it's opened.
That to me is insulting and i'm glad they walked out, I would have done the same never to return.Comment
