Yeah, the deathstar hangar is a toughy. My strategy was to keep using the speed burst button to get from cover to cover. Specifically, the room on the ground levels on opposite sides of the hangar. Just wait for stormtroopers and shadow troopers to come in after you (have your force lightning and/or Force repulse maxed if possible beforehand). And then also use the two room on either side at the top level of the hangar............getting there using the elevators on either side. You can shoot force lightning down onto the walkers from up there without taking too much fire.....and you can also take out the flying troopers easily from up there as well.

Seriously, the guides at times are worthless and you just have to free style it. That part was cool looking at but a pain actually doing.

I borrowed this from a guy at work and just finished going through on Apprentice. Have to say its a very pretty game and I really liked the storyline.

I just noticed yesterday that there is a downloadable Jedi Temple level on Live. It's 800 points, which seem kinda steep for one level and some character skins. Anybody downloaded and played it yet?

I didn't see this update last night in the PS3 Store Update. Maybe it is coming next week for the PS3?

I think this Jedi Temple level is terrible. The new skins are cool, though.

Re: Star Wars: Force Unleashed (360/PS3)

I got this game for Christmas but I'm just not feeling it. I thought the demo was OK and probably feel the same (maybe worse) about the actual game. The best thing about the demo was the force powers and combos you could do although the sheer number of them was mind boggling. I find myself liking the ability to upgrade my powers through the game but missing all of the cool ones the demo had. This is particularly annoying to me since this game resembles a button masher type of game rather than a game that requires a lot of strategy.

I'm only on the third chapter of the game (hopefully done it soon) and I'm playing it right now just because I have it, not because I really want to. I don't know if this will improve or not. At times I'm frustrated by not knowing exactly what to do and the longer checkpoints if I screw anything up. I see game as trade bait fairly soon.

I like the game a good bit, especially after the patch that fixed the Default Text glitch (fixing the glitch makes so you can complete all the mission objectives).

I do think it was a bit of a bummer that you didn't know all your force moves at the beginning, but I guess that's how they felt the power up system should work. I would think if you are learning new abilities then the story should have you training to be a Sith assasin in order to learn the abilities. As it is, you really aren't in training, so learning new abilities is kinda weird. But that's how games work.

It's sort of like Marvel Ultimate Alliance in a way. Just beat up people and level up your powers along the way. But I guess I'm just tired of the beat 'em up games and prefer something a little less repetitive and have a little more strategy.

The game has sold quite well though. I just checked vgchartz and the 360 version had sold 1.46 million while the PS3 version 0.99 million. Almost 2.5 million combined on next gen ain't too shabby.

                        Yeah, good points...

I also hated how they tout all these awesome force powers, make it so much fun to play through a level destroying things and killing guys, but then you get to a boss battle that nerfs you essentially (at least that's what it felt like).

I would be SOOOO mad if I were one of the guys on the production team that got laid off just before this game's release. I'm sure they're all working now, but still...

LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was regarded as a solid installment in George Lucas' space-opera saga upon its launch in September, recording a decidedly decent critical reception on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP. And with award season in full swing, the action adventure has already picked up at least one noteworthy accolade, taking home the Writers Guild of America's award for game writing earlier this week.

Complementing the game's qualitative success, LucasArts can now trumpet The Force Unleashed's quantitative performance as well. This week, the publisher's parent company Lucasfilm announced the game has attained global sales of 5.7 million units across its myriad platforms, which include the Xbox 360, PS3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Wii, DS, and mobile devices.

Of that tally, 1.5 million units of The Force Unleashed were sold during the game's opening week, after the publisher said it had shipped out 4.3 million copies to global retailers. Lucasfilm notes The Force Unleashed's performances has secured it the standing of "fastest selling Star Wars video game in history."

Set between the ending of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and the beginning of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, The Force Unleashed chronicles the travails of Darth Vader's secret apprentice. As the acolyte, players are tasked with hunting down the Jedi remnant across the galaxy, wrecking as much Force-powered destruction as possible in the process.

                              Holy crap on this:

                              Plus trophy patch:

Amidst all of the excitement over the Ultimate Sith DLC and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition announcements, LucasArts also quietly revealed that they are adding trophy support to the Playstation 3 version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Here is the confirmation from the official Twitter of LucasArts Games:

“Just confirmed to me: TFU on PS3 to get trophy support with the Sith Edition. Will find more out Monday (plane takes of in a few hours)”

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed launched in September 16, 2008. At that time, trophy support wasn’t required for Playstation 3 games. That has changed in 2009, however.

While LucasArts had no obligations to patch it in for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, they probably went ahead anyway in order to promote the upcoming DLC for the Playstation 3 version. Here is the trailer for Ultimate Sith DLC, due this fall on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
