    Boiling a disc

I'm getting DDE on one of my games. Does boiling the disc really work or Am I just a complete moron?

If it is true, how long do I have to boil it for?

    Re: Boiling a disc

Insert your disk into the boiling water for two(2) hours. This will remove any scratches on the CD, leaving you DDE free. Good luck to you.

I had a copy of brute force that didn't work. It was old so I just boiled and it started back working. As far as boiling any new games, I would just get a disc cleaner first and try that. It might just be the system lens that is dirty.

If the above advice doesn't work for you,I would fry up the disc in a bit of butter,or saute in olive oil.

Two hours? There is no way. I thought it was for 5 mins.

WTF!? Two hours? My son did this with one of his games for about 4 mins or so, it did work. Two hours I would think destroys the damn disc.

Haha, I was being sarcastic. I don't think I'd ever boil my disk, it doesn't sound reliable.

I boiled Inside Drive 04 when it became unplayable due to scratching (from overuse - I LOVED that game!) for about 10 mins and it worked fine after that for another couple of months. I was skeptical at first but figured i had nothing to lose and it worked out ok for me......

I boiled a Xbox magazine demo disc for about a minute, and it worked.

I just boiled it for 15 seconds and I'm still getting the DDE.

Maybe I'll throw it in there for a few minutes. I have nothing else to lose.

A few min's min, then let it sit and cool off for a minute or two.

My cellphone once died so I boiled it. Worked like a champ when I was done. Boiling cures the world's problems.
