They did the used game thing in certain Best Buys as a test market, haven't gone nationwide with it yet.

Why the hell do you guys open up so damn many copies of brand new games? I went in to Gamestop today to buy 2k7 for 360, no pre-order. The two guys have four copies, of which three have already been opened. I ask for the unopened one, but that was for a pre-order pickup. I then take one of the opened ones (it DID just come in today) and get home and see that the disc has a scratch. It plays, but why the **** did they have to open THREE COPIES! One for the shelf box, I get it...but two more? One the day of release!

What gives?

Dude you are a gamer, go to Best Buy and Circuit City like normal people...lol....

I'm wondering why you didn't say a nice vulgar word and just walk out the store. I would have went straight to Best Buy. Between BB, CC, Walmart, Target, and ebay, I see no reason to go to those other stores except for the used games. That's the only reason, to get those games and to play them immediately. Just have to have the heart to act ridiculous on the real.

Well I just got back from exchanging my copy. Went in, same clerk, told him about the scratch on the disc (he looked befuddled "it wasn't PLAYED") and then promptly found four unopened copies and exchanged with no issues.

Seriously, after GRAW2 next week and 'Guitar Hero II' for 360, I think I'm done...at least with the store nearest to me.

I do like the 15% off the guide though when I buy my RPG's, however.

Weird that they got two shipments in the same day. Guess they were trying to force that opened copy on you.

I had my three year old son with me and frankly wanted to get my baseball fix in. Not going to swear and start a fuss in front of my boy to some near minimum wage kid.

I got my new copy, I'm happy...but I'm still curious why such a practice exists. I can understand a single shelf copy, but why not just print a bunch of labels and use generic cases (hell, I'm sure MS or Sony will give bulk game cases to these stores anyway).

That is the reason I'm done with Eb/Gamestop.
I went to the local Eb a couple of weeks ago to trade in Splinter Cell DA,
I checked to see what a used copy was selling for,they had it for 54.99 USED!

I then thought "cool" I'll be able to get a decent trade value.....I take my copy to the desk,tell the clerk "I wanna see what I can get for this"
He then proceeds to scan it...then to my utter disbelief he says it's worth $15.00!
I said 15.00? How in thee hell can you say that when you have a used copy for 54.99? The clerk then goes on some bs rant about the game not being very popular,to which I told him it must be somewhat popular if you're trying to sell a used copy for 54.99.
This was the last straw for me and these places...I took my game and told him "you guy's are a f'n ripoff" and left.
I couldn't believe that..a 40 mark-up

When I traded in 6 old Xbox games, I got $27 of credit for games that they sold for a total of $92. I won't turn in used games there anymore.

I wish 0 places sold used games to be honest, It honestly makes these stores all this money and the company's that make the games 0, Which in my opinion in the end The more games bought each year the better chance they can keep making them better and better.

I stopped doing trade-ins at B&M stores a long time ago. Way more money available to you on ebay.

And if you shop at best buy, circuit city, etc... you don't have to worry about getting harrassed to preorder games. I swear the minute i step into gamestop they begin begging me to preorder stuff. And if I walk into to buy a new game that i didnt preorder, they always make it sound like I'm getting the last one and that I should preorder next time. Its a bunch of BS.

LOL, that always cracks me up. I picked up MLB yesterday, walked in and asked for it. The girl goes, did you preorder. Nope, she goes, well, let me make sure we still have one left. I immediately go, "how about the 20-30 copies I see in the case behind you?" She goes, "oh, that's where they put them, I guess we have them". Whatever.

LOL, I love when that happens. Especially since I used to work at EB, so I know we always got a ton of games shipped in even with only a few preorders.

My old manager tried to get my to preorder a bunch of **** and I just went "Nah, I'll just pick them up on the release, thanks though".
