Re: How many "wargamers" do we have on this site?

I was big-time AH Third Reich player beginning at age 12. I remember the rules being so complicated that I had to "alter" them with my own rules. Still, I had a blast.

I recall re-playing all of WWII several times all by myself. It definitely takes the "surprise element" out of the game when you know Normandy is about to overrun by Allied torups.

A full table of his Space Marines looked pretty cool but the hobby seemed too tedious for me. 2 years ago, I ran into a co-worker while he was looking through a WD mag and it looked pretty interesting. After flipping through a couple issues, curiosity got the better of me and I copped a few models. After I painted them I was hooked...really scratches the creative itch I thought I left in highschool.

Do you have any pics of your Prussian army AA?
Naw, no pics. I sold my Prussian army as well as my 40k Space Wolf army back in 99. I've been getting the itch to start playing again though. Just have to find some fellow gamers..hard to come by around here.

I built Skaven, Chaos, and Lizardmen armies for Warhammer and ended up selling all 3 of those for about 1500 dollars.

My Lizardmen army was "uber" nice...I spent way too much time painting those guys. That was probably my favorite part of the hobby.

The Operational Art of War games on the PC are just like those old war games.
Gettysburg,1776, and Wooden Ships & Ironmen-those were the days. No bugs/glitches or patches. Just the occasional Mom that would make us take our board off the dining room table after 3 days of sitting there-Lol! Those games were very deep and we used the advanced rules if they were included. Long gone now,but my brother is still into the Avalon Hill games and the sports board strategy games-APBA football.
Now,due to the way my life works, the computer is the only way I can do that. I do have the Talonsoft series of strategy games-West Front-East Front and Rising Sun-I might just break those out and reload them on my computer. Those games were as close as you could get to board games.

              Great paint job HM!

I wish I had some pics of my armies. I as an "ok" player, but I am one hell of a painter if I don't say so myself. Made some nice terrain for 40K and Star Wars Miniatures Battles as well.

Hella good time...a few beers, a tabletop, and some "lead". Good times.

I have Rising Sun and another Talonsoft game. I played some on the PC, but it wasn't the same against AI. I think you can play these games over the internet and I would be interested in that.

Loved playing old school Axis and Allies and always thought the Napoleonic miniatures were cool as all get out, but have never started into it. Played alot of the talonsoft Napoleonic pc games... good times.

"Not wonderment," he said when asked if he was surprising even himself with his hot hand in Virginia's 108-87 victory against Gonzaga on Wednesday night, when he scored a career-best 37 points. "I was just wondering why they didn't play more `D.

                          Anybody still play?

I jumped in today, ordering The Hunters: German U-Boats at War, 1939-43. It's a simple game so I thought it would be a good place to start.

I'm really only interested in WWII and specifically the Eastern Front. I've looked at games like Old School Tactical Vol. 1 and No Retreat! The Russian Front but I thought I'd start with something simpler so as to not be overwhelmed and with something that is specifically designed for solitaire play.

Not sure what is meant by wargames or if you can put this here or grand strategy but I am a big fan of Hearts of Iron IV. I never played the first 3 but have about 175 hours on steam over 3 campaigns.

I am finally figuring out how to play this game after a few attempts at getting into it. I have over 2000 hours in EU4 and about 300 into CK2, but Vic2 and HOI4 have been a lot harder for me to get into.
