Re: Rainbow Six vs. GRAW 2
We JUST got a cover system and IMO to say not having it right now is a gamekiller is unrealistic.
I love the cover system also but it's certainly not a necessary requirement just yet for it to be a game killer.Joshua:

Re: Rainbow Six vs. GRAW 2
Two popular games adopt a cover system and suddenly everyone's a cover snob.
Look at it this way. In a game like Vegas, you can hide in complete safety behind a wall while looking down a hallway that your character is facing away from. How in god's name is that realistic? The "cover system" in GRAW is much more realistic where if you can see an enemy, they can see you. But it's ridiculous to claim that realism constitutes a "gamekiller." What's really stupid is being able to hide behind a boulder, facing backwards, and look out across the entire map.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Re: Rainbow Six vs. GRAW 2
If you want a more realistic experience go with GRAW 2. Because since when in real life can you take cover with your back to the wall and see down a 30 foot hallway? Yeah I thought so too. (don't get me wrong I loved RB6 BUT realistic it is not)Comment

Re: Rainbow Six vs. GRAW 2
One small quip about R6's cover system, aside from the unrealistic nature: In GRAW, I like using the scope aim for long range and the L Trigger aim for short to medium range. R6 took that option away by making the L Trigger the cover button.
I plead ignorant though and will say that I didn't look very hard to see if there was a way of changing this outside of messing around with the Controller Configurations.Comment

Re: Rainbow Six vs. GRAW 2
Come on! You know how long it took color tv to become the norm? Quite a while.

Yes it is. When other games (plural) have it, I don't want to play a shooter without it. Especially a 3rd person. So, without a true cover system, I have no interest in playing GRAW anymore. I don't like regressing in my games.Comment

Comparing games to real life is ridiculous. I like cover systems, I only want to play shooter games with cover systems, and not having one is a gamekilller to me. Not everyone is going to be on GRAW's jock and until it has a cover system, I have no interest in playing it.Comment

Re: Rainbow Six vs. GRAW 2
You're on the wrong forum. Comparing games (sports mostly) to real life is the norm here. People wanting to play a game that they feel is more realistic or "sim" is no more ridiculous than someone wanting to play a game where players have an imaginary camera hovering above them that allows them to see around corners while hiding.PSN: JISTIC_OS

I did not say anything about sports games. No matter what shooter games do, they will never reach any shred of realism. You just can't duplicate or replicate any sort of war or battle. It will always be fake. So I prefer my cover system. Unless your last name is GRAW, way too much offense has been taken because someone prefers a cover system in Vegas over GRAW. I am not the first and won't be the last.Comment

Again you could make the same argument for any sports game.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Rainbow Six vs. GRAW 2
Both of these games are realistic shooters. They attempt to emulate a realistic environment and put the player in the center of that environment. I've played every Rainbow Six game and must say that the cover system is ridiculous. You use teammates and your own skills to see things, not some hokey cover system. That's not realistic, that's cheating. People that want cover systems want the easy way out and don't want a realistic setting or realistic gameplay AND THAT'S FINE.
The fact is that many of us play realistic shooters because we want to feel like we're in the middle of the action and we want to feel that it's hard, that's were at a disadvantage so we can overcome it. I'm sorry, it seems very ******** to be able to face away from something and scan an entire room/scene. Cover systems should never have been invented. As much as I hate how the old lean animations were used to take advantage of the game, I'd much rather welcome that back.
No cover for this cat.
On a side note, I still prefer the gameplay in R6 to GRAW. The R6 series will always have a special place in my heart"Well the NBA is in great hands but if I had to pick the single greatest player on the planet, I take Kobe Bryant without hesitation." - Michael Jordan, 2006Comment

Military shooters adding cover systems in-game is a huge leap forward, it makes no sense to me why anyone would wish they had never been invented.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Rainbow Six vs. GRAW 2
Speaking of the greatest tactical shooter of all time (referring to GRAW2), is anyone up for some action after the game tonight?
