Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions

I haven't had any problems with my equipment. Granted, the drums have seen 90% of the action, but they have been working fine.

I've barely touched the guitar myself, the only time I used it was on the first day when I had friends over and we were all taking turns. I'll get to them eventually but I am having way too much fun on drums. I'm about to start my solo drum career on Hard. Can't wait!!!

The replacement program is really good though. Ordering a replacement was really easy, and my replacement guitar came in two days. Also, I just sent back my broken guitar last Thursday and on Friday my credit card was fully refunded.

Only lasts 60 days though. But I got a 2 year warranty from Best Buy for $20 that should keep me covered.

So I finally decided to go and drop the big bucks for this game but it turns out it sold out everywhere in my town...

Yeah...I just don't care enough and the problems are a good way to talk myself out of it...I'd enjoy it a while but it'd get old, and I'd rather not have to deal with repairs.

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band now with Impressions

I was very skeptical about this game... but the more and more I kept reading about it led me to taking a chance and boy i'm glad I did.

I couldn't see myself singing as i'm not a big karoke guy, I even thought I might feel silly playing on these plastic insturments. My wife continually gave me crap and thought I was nuts/nerdy for contemplating the idea to purchase this.

After opening it up last Friday I have never had so much fun with a game. My wife absolutely loves it and has been playing both with me and on her own (she loves the drums) non-stop and she never plays video games. She's been trying to get everyone she talks to come and try it. We had a lot of family stop in over the weekend to drop off a simple item or what not and next thing they know they are at our house for 2 hours jamming on Rock Band. It's pretty amazing how this game transcends generation and gender.

I never was into the GH series so maybe that this is fresh to us is a big difference but I find the drums, guitar, bass and surprisingly singing all to be extremely fun. Great game to have a couple drinks and laughs with friends before heading out for a night or just partying in.

I think what I love about it the most has been the reintroduction into music. I'm in my mid-30's and have always loved music but with a busy life have not kept up with finding new music to listen to. Present day radio absolutely blows so there isn't a lot of avenues to experience new music.

It's great to listen play some of the old clasics and i've found the bonus tracks to be very enjoyable as they are all stuff I haven't heard and are a pretty eclectic grouping of songs. If the DLC continues to be a nice wide spread of classic, fun/cheesey, and new (both popular and obscure) tracks then I can see this being played for a very long time.

The equipment issues are an issue but it seems that EA for once has really been making good on replacing the equipment and have already remodeled the replacement guitar to no longer have the strum bar issues. The Best Buy 2 yr replacement plan was only another $29 bucks so I know that I am covered for a long time and can stroll right down the street and swap out a faulty guitar.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. It's relieving to hear that the hardware problems aren't as bad as some people make them sound.

At the Rock Band forums there is an announcement for a PS3 patch coming very soon (like any time) that is suppose to fix guitar compatibility issues. I hope this makes it so we can use the GH3 guitar! I don't get to open this game until Christmas, it will be nice if they patch and the GH3 guitar is all working by then.

Well, my old guitar wouldn't up strum. So my new guitar came yesterday, this one doesn't down strum.. at all. Now I get to order another one. Nicely made products Harmonix. My drums are dead too, but I haven't ordered new ones of those yet. I've only got to do 4 songs on drums since I got because my yellow didn't register.

WOW! That does suck. I still have to send the mic back.

Wow! That is brutal...I will say I did wonder how Harmonix could give us all these controllers at that price...it seems cheap, but 110 for drums, a mic, and a guitar is pretty good of a deal.

blue, I think these instruments are rather cheaply made. The drums seem to be the most stable of everything they have in the set. Even the mic blows balls............very sad.

You know, I've started using the D-Pad on the guitar to strum and I find that I kinda enjoy it.

Damn EG sorry to hear that! All my instruments are doing fine, and we have given them plenty of wear and tear so far. I have even packed them all up in our ride and gone to some friends houses to hang and play a few times. The kick was what I was worried about the most (especially on harder diff.) but it has held up very well IMO.

I decided to cave and picked this up as a family Christmas gift. After hearing about all of the peripherial issues, i'm thinking about opening it up and playing it a bit to make sure it works. My son will be p!ssed if we open it up Christmas morning to find broken gear.
