This really has the potential to be a long game. I'm twelve hours in and haven't even completed any additional main quest stuff. I just seem to get caught up in branching side quests, which I should add are very cleverly written and realized. You're not going to find too many non-sports games with this much play value in them. Great deal for $60.

What are you doing to stay on top of your ammunition? I'm struggling to keep enough ammo on hand.

I like the game a lot, but I suck at it. I can't walk anywhere without being attacked and dying. I know you guys will laugh, but I have the game on very easy now and I'm still finding it tough to play.

Any tips?

And I thought I sucked. I just been reading different post and the Guide and I'm starting to SLOOOOOOWLY get the hang of what's going on. I will say this is a masterpiece of a game IMO. Got to give FarCry props also. Peace!!!!

What have you been doing to get better. I want to like the game, but I'm so awful at it.

Mostly trial & error. After dying 3-5 times in a row I always try a different approach. The Strategy guide has really helped me out a lot. I don't use the guide for help beating and area but more for what something means or knowledge about how the game should be played. I never look at the map layouts. This is one of my vote's along with Obama for Prez, for GOTY. Peace!!!!!

Any tips?

Go slow and crouch for the most part even in the wasteland. You'll get a red caution warning when enemies are near. When you see that, stop and figure out where the enemy is and what it is. If you can handle them, go for it. If you don't think you can handle them, give the enemy room and go around them.

One of the cool things I've noticed is that there are a lot of NPC fights between each other. Go slow and observe your prey before you move in. They may get into a fight with another npc and then you can go in and finish them off when they are weakened.

Out in the wasteland I've actually seen brotherhood of steel guys fighting some big evil looking oblivion type monster (forgot the name of it). They ended up killing each other and I got to take the spoils - a flamer and a laser rifle and their power armor which I can't wear yet (need a perk or higher skills to wear it or something).

Blindly rushing into areas will get you killed quick.

Good lord, this game can't get here from GameFly fast enough. I love the fact that just running around will get you killed. Enemies that are getting injured will actually try to run and find cover to save themselves.

This'll be my first Fallout game. I can't freaking wait much longer.

I just got around to opening the game, I got all settled in for a long night of playing it, and of course I can't get past the title screen because of an unreadable disk error. Awesome!

Blindly rushing into areas will get you killed quick.

I know, I just have no patience. Guess I need to learn quick or die often.

Very cool moment...Walking in the wasteland, I hear and see some explosions off in the distance. Some sort of high level fight going on in the distance. I sit crouched on a hill observing guys throwing nades at each other and then one of them opens up with the flamer and starts hosing everyone with napalm. Fight ends and I go in real slow and scavenge the losers as the winners wander off the other way.

Super duper mart is where it's at. Some low to mid level bandits are there and you'll find a ton of ammo in the back rooms. The megaton crater supply lady will send you there on a quest if you can't find the mart.

I always seem to scrape by, whenever I'm really in a dire situation I seem to stumble upon an area that lets me replenish my supplies somewhat. So I guess my answer is at this point, dumb luck. I did recently get to level nine and chose the ability that makes it more likely for you to find ammo though.

I just completed the quest stream surrounding Big Town, some of the NPC's there died in the fighting but I thought it was a really cool example of how open ended it is that if someone dies that's it. It adds a level of depth to the story that you can have it that some NPC's fall victim to the perils of the game world while the others continue on.

Question about a situation that occured in Megaton.

Ok here is my experience in Megaton. I talk to Burke and told him that I didn't want to blow up the town (trying to be good this round), so I go and tell the sheriff what Burke was trying to do and me and the sheriff go back into the bar and the sheriff confronts Burke. Sheriff tells him he's coming to jail so Burke gets up starts walking and then pulls out a gun and one shot kills the sheriff. I'm like wtf, Burke looks at me and told me I made a huge mistake and I would pay for it and then it looks as if he is about to blow my head off so I pull out VATS and take care of him.

Menu pops up saying I can no longer get rewards for blowing up Megaton, which I figured. My explosive skills weren't high enough to disable the nuke. I ended up leaving and heading to the Radio station. So am I screwed for both them guys, like story and or achievement wise? I saved right before me and the sheriff went in. I may go back if it hinders anything. Any ideas?
