Ubisoft makes the best trailers.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Developer interview on the "new" Splinter Cell:
http://www.industrygamers.com/news/i...linter-cell/1/
So the first thing we did was evaluate, “What are the values of Splinter Cell?” From there we identified which ones we liked and didn't like and which ones we wanted to monitor... what came out was the fantasy of playing Splinter Cell, the fantasy of light and shadows, the fantasy of gadgets and Sam Fisher, the elite stealth agent. People want to be that guy. But what was coming up all the time was, “Man, that game's hard. I played the first map and I stopped. It was too difficult.” So we had a clear player fantasy that we wanted to continue to deliver, but it was clear that we weren't delivering it properly or well enough since people were not sticking to it. They were not finishing the games we were making and the sales were stagnating... So, our fantasy was good but we needed to approach it differently.Comment

Re: Splinter Cell Conviction (360 & PC)
So in other words, developers at UbiSoft purposefully dumbed down the challenge of getting through Splinter Cell Conviction in order to try to appeal the SC series to the masses. I don't like the idea of that at all. But it appears this has to be done to improve sales of their product, so I understand.

You could do things like jump and choose the arc of your throw as in lob, fastball and things in-between. The only bad thing about it was the crap melee attack.
I don't think the developers really know what's gone wrong with the series.
Chaos theory and the original are the 2 best and the others fall pretty short of those. For me personally though, even Chaos theory had changes I didn't really like. (crappy night vision)Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Splinter Cell Conviction (360 & PC)
No they stopped making it arbitrarily frustrating so that people wouldn't get stuck at a part and just quit playing the game. I've played and beat every Splinter Cell except Double Agent and the demo alone is more fun than I've ever had in any game in the series without being completely easy.
A game shouldn't sacrifice what makes it fun in order to achieve that though, and I feel that's what Double Agent did more than any game in the series.
I'm looking forward to this game. I don't want it dumbed down or stripped of any challenge of course, but I do want it to be a fun challenge (which is something I enjoyed about the original, for example). This seems to be what they're going for, and if they pull it off, I'm all about it.Comment

Re: Splinter Cell Conviction (360 & PC)
Ironically enough, I agree with the bolded in particular, but mainly as it pertains to Double Agent. That game felt hard for the sake of being hard at times. I know a lot of people here like to ramp up the difficulty to max and be challenged that way, and that's fine.

I really hope the development team has been re-playing one and trying to include its strengths.
There better be zip-line opportunities and repelling - I really liked the complexity of the maps in 1 too, they seemed like they could have easily been real in many parts.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Exclusive Splinter Cell Conviction Interview with Ubisoft Montreal
Since the Xbox Live Marketplace release of the Splinter Cell Conviction demo, various gaming forums have been up in arms over the demo's difficulty, the Mark & Execute feature, and the general pacing of the game, which is a lot faster paced than previous games in the series. We asked the developers at Ubisoft Montreal to address these issues gamers had and hope their answers will allay many gamers fears about how the full game will be compared to the demo.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
