How's the AI in the singleplayer? Are the enemies smarter than they were in the demo?

You have to sign up and then get points for playing. Its 40 or 50 points to "buy" it. If you don't have any points now, you will have to basically beat the game to get enough points to buy it.Comment

Don't know if I'm the only one this happened to but:
After finally installing the update this morning, I go to continue my story and it said the save game was corrupt and I now have to restart.
I don't mind - I'd replay the levels over again, but that's really annoying.Comment

I don't know if I've ever played a game that has made me feel more badass. It's like it's more a combination of Gears and Splinter, with a better cover system.
Just freakin' awesome.Comment

BTW...
SpoilerI know a couple reviews didn't really love the flashback "war" level... but I thought it was pretty dang cool! Sort of like playing Battlefield in third person.Comment

But to answer the poster who asked about the AI in single player. To me it's very good (and I'm hesitant to praise the AI of games nowadays). Enemies WILL see you if you're within 15 feet of their eyesight and you have so much as a strand of hair sticking out from a wall. As soon as you run around, it will alert guards (sometimes in another room). If the enemy pulls out their weapons, you better be prepared to be fast, deadly, and accurate with your takedowns and the mark and shoot technique. Cause if not, you will die in 3 seconds flat. Sam doesn't take a whole lot of bullets to die (as he shouldn't....he isn't Superman). Enemies will take a very smart approach to the last spot they saw you and will shoot towards the silhouette. Sometimes, I've had enemies afraid to approach my last known position. Just another part of the game that adds replay value and strategy.Huge Fan of the New Orleans Saints & New Orleans Pelicans!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

I shot out a light, then immediately had 4-5 guys looking for me. Apparently I didn't do enough recon before shooting out the light.Comment

Re: Splinter Cell Conviction (360 & PC)
Well, last night (after some time away from the constant freezing) I decided to clear all my Splinter Cell data and my cache and try again. It seems to have worked. I ended up staying up too late getting sucked in though.
All I can say is it's a shame that it's apparently so short, because it's ridiculously fun. As Dick said, you feel like an utter badass throughout. I know purists are turned off by less focus/reliance on stealth, but it strikes a great balance IMO. You ARE rewarded for playing it in the shadows and it's still fun (though admittedly I miss some things...like whistling and making bodies vanish, to name a couple) to sneak around and stealth kill.
I've found a fun balance where I'll shoot out lights and pop a guy or two with an unsilenced weapon then creep off into the shadows and watch the rest panic. The constant yelling and cursing of their false bravado is hilarious. It also adds some challenge as you have to really mind your stealth from then on if you don't want a firefight. Mark and execute is an awesome addition and it doesn't really feel too overpowered, though I'm sure some might use it more as a crutch than others.
My only gripes are the freezing (though to be fair I haven't had one since I reset everything), some of the missing stealth details (I get that he's kind of on a rampage, but if you're going to allow sneaking around...let's do it right and hide bodies, have the choice to KO or Kill, etc), and the arcadish sounds/visuals when you gain marks, make close quarter kills, or achieve a P.E.C. challenge. I'd add the length to that too, but obviously it isn't impacting me just yet.
Definitely worth playing...would highly recommend anyone on the fence to either rent it or give it a try down the road when the price comes down.
EDIT: And I wouldn't worry about challenge. It's easier than other Splinter Cell games, but you can still get your *** handed to you.
Also the story does a good job of drawing you into the role of pissed off dad who happens to be able to kill at will. The constant taunting and half-information being thrown your way definitely makes you happy to obliged these clowns and make them suffer.
SpoilerAnd I haven't played long, but I'm at the part where you take Grimms car and was slick getting to the SAT and disabling it with minimal contact only to face a TON of enemies on my way back...lol. I figured that was a good place to rest up for the night and start fresh today.
I so enjoyed smacking her around too. I personally would have popped off a couple shots in the arm or leg...or maybe tossed her around the room some, but it was still satisfying to bloody her up some.Last edited by SoxFan01605; 04-14-2010, 02:12 PM.Comment

Re: Splinter Cell Conviction (360 & PC)
This game hooked me yesterday, I put over 10 hours into the campaign on realistic, and still have 6 missions left. Trying to be real stealthy is tough on this difficulty. The people that finished this in 5 hours must have been playing on easy or normal, and playing it like Gears or Uncharted, which you totally can.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
