Re: MGS4 on the 360?
Wednesday 11-Jul-2007 7:41 AM Microsoft's Peter Moore didn't even mention Metal Gear Solid 4...
Pre-E3 whispers say MGS4 will be a timed exclusive for PS3. Microsoft mentioned just about every other game under the sun at its E3 press conference expect Kojima's highly-anticipated action game.
It was only yesterday that rumours of Metal Gear Solid 4 being released for Xbox 360 hit a new high. Konami's head of US and European operations, Kazumi Kitaue, said that even though Metal Gear Solid was born for PlayStation, and the firm would like to keep it that way, steps may have to be taken.
We can only presume that he means steps taken to make the game multiplatform to cover the cost of the game's lengthy development cycle.
A source has told CVG that , "Kitaue is constantly trying to force Kojima to drop the game's PS3 exclusivity, which Hideo refuses point blank to do. Trust me MGS4 will be a PS3 exclusive for for months at least."
Microsoft's press conference focused on games that will be released this year (apart from Resi 5). There was no mention of MGS4 and 360 which makes us believe that Sony is still holding tight to the franchise. If it was coming to 360, Peter Moore would have made a massive song and dance about it. He didn't, probably because the deal's not been signed yet.

What is wrong with this guy Kojima? I used to like him but now he is just an ***. Number one Metal Gear is bigger here in the US than it is in Jpn. Xbox is the number one Next Gen machine here...Wii is not next gen. What an idiot.
He is just trying to disquise nationlism with this nonsense about this can only be done on Blu Ray. If anybody knows about MG it's has tons of dialogue which is taking up most of the disk space. The Bright One is my Point of Reference, It's my Guide And it always becomes The Center of my Chart. I Always name it Dionne. It's my Constant.Comment

Re: MGS4 on the 360?
360 owners who were parading about the PS3's inferior ports may be in for a rude awakening if MGS4 is ported over. It would have to be a timed exclusive, because extra development time will probably be necessary to get it running on similar levels as the original.
Reading between the lines, I think MGS4 would've been ready for this Holiday, but was delayed to allow the user base to fill out. This would naturally extend with its release, and whatever sales spurt will follow.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

OXM "rumor mole" reports that the game will be on the 360 a few months after PS3.

MGS4 needs to be launched on the same day as PS3 or around the launch to be successful on the 360 IMOhttp://www.myspace.com/phillthegenesis

Re: MGS4 on the 360?
Interesting...
HMV is offering a preorder on the Xbox 360 version of MGS 4 without any official confirmation or announcement from Konami about the franchise heading to Xbox-land. So, they either know something we don't or they're just a tad confused. Though, it's interesting to note that they have the release date set at September 26th for the 360 version, which is five months after the PS3 version drops (according to their release dates). So, in theory, that would make sense according to the OXM confirmation rumor we heard a few weeks back.Comment

Re: MGS4 on the 360?
The thing is, konami doesn't care about fanboy feelings. Since it's all just about $$$$$, I could see it coming out on the 360 eventually. While it looks like a nice game, I doubt it will sell a ton on the 360, even if it came out a few months later. It's nowhere near #1 on my list of games to get..even if I did have a ps3.Last edited by bkfount; 08-05-2007, 03:40 PM.Comment

Re: MGS4 on the 360?
Of course, it's about money.
I still don't think the 360 demographic will "show up" for VF5, Devil May Cry 4, Silent Hill 5, and of course, Metal Gear Solid 4.
The PS2 demographic is large enough where the current 360 pop. doesn't automatically translate into the former.
Konami has done this before, and had mixed results.
It's like the Camry and the F-150. Both do tremendous numbers, and there is a faction of people who would or do drive both, but still has a large divide in who buys one or the other.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

Re: MGS4 on the 360?
to be honest... i think any game is capable of being successful on the xbox360... I know what i said about MGS4 earlier but after seeing Tenchu Z break top 15 sales (outselling The Darkness) i think it's quite possible for other former PS2 only titles to be successful... last gen... EVERYONE had a PS2... and those who had an xbox had a PS2 already so porting games MONTHS after release were pointless... many xbox owners had the game already.. now i'm not saying this is reason enough for MGS4 to go multi-plat... quite frankly i think sony paid enough money to keep it exclusive... but games like Devil May Cry 4 WILL be successful... look how well the other capcom games have done on the xbox360 (dead rising & lost planet)http://www.myspace.com/phillthegenesis

DMC4 will be another huge hit on the 360 and just look at Dead Rising and Lost Planet as an example.
Silent Hill 5........I'm not too sure how this one will sell on the 360. I don't even know the number of sales on the original XBOX for these games, so I can't defend it. LOL!
and MGS4......I probably don't have to say much, this thing would sell like boatloads if it released day and date as the PS3 version. If the PS3 version comes out first and the 360 version were to come out 6 months or so later, than yes I can see this not selling as well since people will buy it on the PS3.Comment
