Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
and the worst part is it seems like the probe can start to build, then flitter away and start something else, while the original thing just materializes in. You then have to choose whether or not to attack the thing or the probe with your scvs (I didn't have marines yet).Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
Just gonna edit this post as I watch the replay - expect it to get a lot longer.
Right from the outset, looks like a well-balanced game. Economies look very similar - I love this part about the B-net matchmaking. Sometimes you get cannon rushed or 6 pooled, but a lot of the matches I've played I've been on very even terms with my opponent.
- Marines vs. Zealots - hope that wall holds...
- Ooh, close call on his second attack - Good thing you had those Banshees!
- Man, he got you good a few minutes later. But he lost his whole army in the scramble too! So he knows where you're at (the warp prism), but can't do a thing about it because he has no air! (though the stargate is up, he can't afford anything)
- Looking through his eyes, I think he thought that your main base had been completely razed and abandoned - He's sure gonna get a surprise if he ever wanders back there...Nice job taking out that observer, I never see those pesky things.
- 35 minutes - Oh crap - Battlecruisers coming out. Big tech advantage here, because he's still trying to push out Void Rays.
- Yeah, it's clear that he has no idea what's going on at your original base. He's thinking he can hit your island with Phoenixes and Void Rays and get the win. This is going to get VERY ugly for the Protoss.
- What a finish! More or less came down to a base race between his DT's and your Cruisers. For a while I was wondering if that lone supply depot on the island was going to be the only thing keeping you alive, but you got the CC rebuilt too. It seems like he totally forgot about his VR's when the attack hit - those could have finished off the factory and the depot easily when they were all that was left.
Great crisis management, and a very rewarding win I'm sure. Gotta love the Terran's ability to fly their buildings.
One of my favorite things to do is fortify my defenses in my base and wait for an attack, then just blitz my opponents base right as he's arriving into mine. Because of the floating buildings of the terran, I can usually just pop my CC out of there and get away while they focus on killing my stuff. Then it's just a matter of who has more stuff left over (like in this game). If I can get the CC up and running again I usually pull off the win.
I'm having fun with the siege+MnM combo though. Especially against protoss, You can just park your tanks right at the ramp and blast away with your army behind it. As soon as the tanks soften up the defenses, just rush in with the army and gg.Comment

Here's the replay from that one - It's basically me holding it off once, and then desperately (and hopelessly) trying to hold off the second one after missing the scout.Attached FilesComment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
It is so funny how many people are bitter after they lose.
This is just one of countless instances I've seen, but last night I did a 2v2 with a friend of mine. We were both zerg vs Terran and Protoss. We ling rushed the terran and killed all of his SCVs and then he left.
The Protoss character had a bunch of zealots and immediately started pumping out marines once his friend left so our small army was killed. A few minutes later we attack again with lings and roaches, but the guy has amassed a small army of his own with the extra unit and resource capabilities. He attacks my base and I'm taken out completely except for overlords so all I can do is scout for the rest of the match.
Well about 10 minutes later my team ends up winning and he starts talking trash how we suck and it was 2v1. Just makes me laugh when I hear things like that. Especially in his case since he had just as much unit production capability, after he took control of his partner's base, as both of us combined...and had the luxury of terran economy as a protoss. I thought for sure we were going to lose, but he screwed himself up. My friend went Mutas and this guy went with a mix of Stalkers and Zealots. Once his stalkers were dead it was just a matter of time before his zealots were picked off.
I just think things like that are funny and thought I'd share.Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
I don't know that any of the levels can compare with playing a human opponent (especially Zerg since the AI's don't quick expand or build an early second hactchery), but Very Hard will vary its starting build and adapt to what you're throwing at it. Insane just plain cheats.Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
good games with kash and his buddy yesterday.
what race do you play as? I think one thing that's key to is to identify a couple build orders for your race and practice executing them in every game you play whether it's against the AI or an actual person. For example, the first 10 minutes of the game for me are very different if I'm playing against a zerg than if I'm playing against a terran or protoss. I know if I'm playing zergs I gotta open up with a 2-gate and pump zealots out and hold off on stalkers. The opening of the game is so key to your success.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
I agree sportsdude. I haven't deviated from terran at all since I first started playing the game and am constantly evolving my tactics depending on the race I play against. against protoss I rush marines and siege tanks, against zerg I go 2 rax with factory and pump marines, marauders and hellions, and against terran I usually tech up and go mech off a 1/1/1.Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
I play Terran. Im like 2-6...lol. Something around them lines. I usually try to do 2 Barracks with Reactor and one with Tech lab. Tech up the marines in the process of trying to swarm with Marines and Maurauders. While Im doing that I try to get a starport up and get medivacs first and then the (I forget what the tranforming air units are called) out second. The only losses I really have are to Terran using Medivacs to transport units in through the air.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os
